After 35 years riding (I’m old) I changed crank from 170 to 165. I’m 5 foot 9. Wish I did it decades ago. It felt so good I tried 160 on another bike. It was even better. I’m thinking of trying 155. My hardtail still has 172.5 and it feels terrible - my hips rocking all over the place, knee cap strain. Definitely recommend giving it a trying you can.

Those Time frames are on another level in terms of comfort, but then a lot of it comes from using a thin seat post instead of a deep "aero" one and optimising other tubing for comfort and not for aero gains. I have got an ADH01 and it's a magic carpet. One thing to watch out with Time frame sets for though is the sizing as they come up larger than what their sizing chart suggests.

Nice to see this build, wouldn't be my first choice of parts though. Opinions are like nostrils we've all got them but I think a build needs to compliment the frame aesthetic. The bars would be better on a full on aero bike, the stem looks oversized for the tube dimensions and that seat post with the two bolt designed dated and fragile. I'd put 40mm rims on and wouldn't run more than a 28mm tyre for the extra clearance. Time make a beautiful frame, the KZbin guys aren't giving them gushing praise for no reason.

The front triangle is built as one piece and the rear is one piece. The way the seat stays are bonded to the front triangle necessitates the single tube design. May not be your aesthetic cup of tea, but Time is more about the tech than the look. Form following function. If you look at some of the videos on how Time uses woven carbon instead of pre-preg (like most big brands), it’s impressive. Time builds all of the frames in house, not contracted to factories in China like everyone else.

all the weight comes from the frame, headset, bottom bracket, handlebar , everything else is silly light and boujee. Schmolke components are as light as they come, wheels are silly light ,pedals and saddle too. Time frames are not light but in fairness their XS is equivalent on M/54 most brands.

Depends where you ride and the road conditions. I have bike in the Philippines which I'm on my 3rd headset bearing in 5 yrs or riding it - 25 and 28mm tires, 36,000 miles on it. Luckily its rim brake, so easy to change. I am hoping to get better wear from my new ADHX with 30/32mm tires, since it damps vibration more. I detect wear by holding the front brake and rocking the bike. If I have the bearing top cap pre-load set right, and there is movement, that indicates bearing wear. And yes, the concrete roads are rough here, not like asphalt in most western countries. Riding on rougher roads also really gives you an appreciating for wider tires and dialing in tire pressures for optimal ride comfort vs rolling resistance.

Obviously my thumb sticks out and it wouldn't be safe to ride anything but uphill like that. All that said, I can't get over the looks. Such an eyesore lol. I don't understand why they couldn't make a more traditional looking handlebar that flares on the tops the way this bar does but without the weird separate bridge in the front for the mount etc.. It would actually be awesome cause then you would be able to install a longer stem too to compensate for the flare back / shorter reach which would look more aggressive. anyway..
