I See a LOT of information out there on the 2JZ, but I just had to get this information out there as a comparison, since these motors are SO HEAVILY slept on in comparison to other engines from that era.

Finishing my 2jz swap, if I could do it again. I would have stuck with the vg. Stock cams are better than the 2jz 700whp easy. Had to upgrade cams

I have a 88 Pathfinder 170k miles with the grandpa VG30i. It was not cared for before I got it. I bought it in an emergency I work in the forest on top of a mountain and my 97 suburban broke its np249 with a week to get another. When I got it back together I sold it and kept the pathfinder. It just works hard.

I have a 97 pathfinder with the VG33, and my brother has a 95 with the VG30E, and both of them are work horses for sure. both have never in the time of ownership let us down, compared to an 08 armada and 05 superduty we own. Not the most power in the world, but they are super strong engines

Great video Billy. I am an Aussie doing a VG build right now and bits are hard to get. I have been fortunate enough to get hold of a Polar Engineering top feed fuel rail. No need for mains caps on mine but another US developer who's known well here in Australia is Engineered Performance Racing from Texas. As far as after market stuff goes you guys over there are so lucky.

Thank you! That's what I keep hearing over there, I would imagine because most people lean to the GTR and rb's since they're more common down there. I use to like engineered performance as well at first but I personally tend to trust these other companies a little more.

@@Billy_Built It took me three months to get mine booked into a workshop who were wiling to take it on. Most workshops here are frightened of the VGDE. I ended up buying a fully built forged engine. ConceptZ are on my speed dial. Waiting for the GTX2867's to arrive from them now.

@Billy_Built
@Billy_Built Жыл бұрын
800 would pretty much be the same results as 650. Guys are making 800+ through a completely stock motor. Although not necessarily recommended to do so. 😅 The playing field may level out once you get closer to 1,000whp+ in my opinion.

For an NA. I'd recommend just buying all the Twin turbo swap parts and just bolting it to the existing NA motor. The NA will run fine with turbos and they love E85.

I have a 94 NA, recently picked up as my first Z. From what I can tell, engine is stock. There are few mods like cold air intake, upgraded radiator, Stillen catback. I love the car but damn its slow (i knew this as its not a TT). My 2022 Accord 2.0T Sport smokes it all day. How can I get some juice on of the Z without breaking the bank and going TT route? Dude i cannot agree more. Now if you have an NA 300zx i can understand why people would swap it with an LS, 2jz, or even an RB26. But its pretty stupid swapping out the VG30DETT because thats what makes it the "300ZX Twin Turbo".
@Billy_Built
@Billy_Built Жыл бұрын
Even with the NA motor. You can make just as much power with one. Very close to it anyway. Swap parts alone will put you in the hole farther than boosting a NA z32.

@@Billy_Built Most of the 2.7ts can be had for $500, swap some ebay k04s on and flash a tune and you can make over 400whp. I guess the most expensive part because its going into another car would be the mounting and transmission choice. The few VG30dett I've seen range from $1500 to $3000
