BEARDED G In case you’re still wondering, your engine is the same with the exception that you have a 9.2:1 compression ratio as opposed to the 9.5:1 seen in all 240sx variants. Your engine should have the same potential as I’m about to find out for better or worse by sticking one in a s14 I am about to purchase. Nothing better than financial suicide! A turbo frontier would be a really unique build though.

Here’s something I think Aron would like the idea of, Honda offers a drop in crate civic type r motor at a reasonable price. It’s $6700 for a complete engine with the turbo and $9000 for the complete engine with a wire-ring harness and ecu. For an engine that stock makes 300hp and can easily make 350 with just a tune it might make sense for a simple seat time car instead of adding a turbo to a 10-20 year old k20 /k24

The half weighted crank does play a role but I believe it’s because of the intake manifold design
@sdshakazulu42685 жыл бұрын
I’ve tossed around the idea of taking the bottom half of the manifold off and putting a universal plenum straight on the upper section while shaping the left over runners into velocity stacks. Put an oversized tb on as well. Point is the stock manifold is for midrange. Loosing the bottom manifold will shorten the runners by like 4inches or so, moving the powerband higher. But I’m by no means an engineer.

4 years since this video was made, but it was still an interesting watch and a lot of what Spencer said is still true today. If anything prices have gotten significantly crazier since then... I wish I could pick his brain and get a blueprint on the perfect 1.5 level motor that he mentions near the end of the video. I currently have an S13 with a stock KA, and I'd like to get the car into the 250-300 HP range, but do I go for that 1.5 level upgrade path, or do I swap to something like a K24? SRs and other traditional swaps have gotten really expensive, and while I could technically afford to put in one of the more traditional swaps, I'm not sure if I want to sink that much money into this car which means my choices are limited. I'm nearly done with the bodywork so I won't be able to keep putting the decision off forever unless I wanna stay stock.

I had a single cam- my first 240 ever, back in 2006, the timing chain guide was so worn that the chain wore a whole in the water pump, and flooded the oil pan with coolant and locked the motor up. Didnt know what had happened, 16 year old at that time. But yea, Idk what power I have but its plenty to drift and super reliable. Dual Cam with light weight pullys, light weight fly wheel. I only run one belt, No power steering. Used turbo off a duramax? lol ebay manifold and fmi. oem everything, i use a FMU and with oem fuel regulator. No Tune. Quite informative. KAs don't get much love, but it's amazing how some people and smaller companies are doing aftermarket parts for these engines. Something that should've been mentioned is the durability and stresses the factory parts can handle before they fail. It's been suggested in Facebook pages that the stock rods can handle plenty of power before failing (stock pistons would fail first). How much RPM the stock crankshaft can handle before secondary harmonics start to become a problem. I was surprised the stock oiling system is that good, with no need of an SR style aftermarket oil pan. No mention of windage trays or oil scrapers, though. I want to make a KA-DET with the Tomei turbo kit. I'd love to get my hands on a Nissan Motorsports side draft intake manifold for turbo ITB setup, but it's most likely discontinued and a rare part to find. Since it will be for a street car, it will see an occasional drag/circuit run or two. Would love to get more into this platform in order to make safe reliable power without going overboard, using OEM and aftermarket parts. If anyone can suggest me where to get the help for that, it would be much appreciated. Thanks for proving that the KA isn't "just a truck engine". Its lineage can be traced back to the L engines, and that particular engine architecture was inspired by a Mercedes-Benz inline engine. So we can say the KA has some pedigree in it's design.

I have a KA24DE in a 2002 Nissan Frontier. I am looking for a good coolant hose schematic. I have replaced the radiator hoses, but I want to locate the routing for the heater hoses and related small hose connections.

I love my KA! In my 69 Datsun 2000! Fun car and easy set up. Non-turbo for now though..

I was hoping there would be comparisons between the recent to market Tomei turbo set up to the ISR and the Full Race mani

What are your questions about it?
@Rotary_Lover_895 жыл бұрын
@@LoneStarDrift So I know a few yrs ago Tomei started to produce and release KA turbo parts like they have been for SR motors. Considering I learned fullrace makes a turbo mani for the KA as pointed out in this video and its highly recommended I was thinking in that moment how the Tomei compares in price, performance and how well designed overall it is to the full race.

Will this fit in my z31? I'm wanting to get rid of the ls and put one of these in there with a turbo even if it makes less power boost is what I want in my life

Nice car just like my old 240. The zenki headlights look a bit yellow; some of those headlight cleaning kits really make it look like new! Highly improves the look.

If anyone wants a cheaper option for dash monitoring, you can get by using a decent OBD2 adapter and using Torque Pro. You can set alarms as well. I have it installed on my android radio. Near the ending on my ebay PCV adapter video, there is a small glimpse what it looks like on my setup.

Thanks for the very informative and great video! I'm really interested in his choice on keeping the OEM intake manifold. He mentioned there are no options that have been proven to make the same power curve as the OEM, especially in the low end range. I've always considered the Xcessive Engineering manifold to be a great option; but I'm really surprised to hear it really is not an improvement? Would love to hear more of yours or Spencer's opinion on this!

It's pretty simple that the stock runner length is much longer and will make better mid and low range. Plus, you couldn't pay me to put another xcessive part on my car. If I ever end up over 600, I'll probably make something.

@@spencermarvdashtipour3615 Makes sense, thank you. Probably saved me a couple hundred I can put elsewhere 👍
