Today we're looking at one of the BA Falcon's rarest accessories - the tissue box! It seems kind of crazy that Ford went to all the trouble of integrating a tissue box holder into the dashboard of every BA/BF Falcon, only to discontinue selling the tissue boxes after a few years? And the ones that are left are now super rare and super expensive! So how about we try and make our own?

Ha ha ha, I was the bloke that won that auction! For real - I won that auction, and another two just like it. I've got three boxes of genuine unopened Ford Tissues now :P Upon reflection... it wasn't my finest drunk purchase... but no regrets really. When they arrived I was more than happy. The tissues came in absolutely mint condition, shrink wrapped packaging - which they are still wrapped in to this day. So did the second box of tissues. Sadly the third box was a generic BF Ford tissue box, which hasn't got anywhere near the level of detail on the packaging of it, but it's still cool to have anyway. I even reached out to Kleenex about recreating them for enthusiasts, as the genuine box has an official Ford part number :P and they said that if enough interest was shown, and with Ford's permission, they would consider doing it. They also said that the tissues used in the box are still being made, as the Kleenex Little Traveler brand, which can be bought at any Woolworths or Coles.

I remember doing predelivery inspections on the BA when I was an apprentice. The tissue boxes came inside the cars from the factory, along with the wheel covers or centre caps and all the other things that had to be fitted to the car before it was ready for the customer. I haven't thought about them in years, you have done such a fantastic job with your template - it looks just like I remember!

Hey, Chris. Cn you recall the drink bottles in the Territory? I think they were a thing in the SX series, but my early SY did not come with them. Am I remembering correctly? My SY did get the plastic bumper panel at the bottom of the tailgate and the lids on the third-row storage boxes which I know were deleted soon after,

I used to buy the tissue boxes from Coles up until about three years ago. FG Falcons have the tissue box slot as well. My FG Mk2 has a slot.

You could buy these at Coles, we had a VR Magna Sportswagon in '04 and the single din slot below the radio was cutout and fit the 'car tissue box' perfectly. Can't remember if it was branded 'Ford' or not, but I'm assuming there was some kind of standard size box manufactured. It was actually really handy when the kids were little.

Great video. I reckon the box might fit in the FG and SZ as well. While they don't have the full little shelf like the BA/BF, they do have grooves halfway up the sides of the "Breadbox" underneath the ICC, which would possibly take the box. Could you test it out in an FG or SZ? I've got an SZ, so I might give this a go soon.

I remember the family Territory coming with one of those tissue boxes! Unfortunately somewhere within 15 years and about 350,000 kms (still runs like a dream), we didn't keep the box around. Guess I'll have to give the box template a go. :)

I've always wondered why my BFs had two little shelves under the console controls. I used the top shelf space (where the tissue box goes) to install a plastic bracket and some USB/audio ports.

My SY Territory has the same slot. We used the 'factory' tissues and I did once buy a replacement at Coles in the Ford size. Must have been when the car was still reasonably new. It was Kleenex branded but I don't recall if it also still had the Ford logo. There is still a similar box available but it is not quite the right size for the Ford slot.

I really like these different Falcon accessories. I had one when I got my BA xr8 long gone now put a slot in the bottom so it locks in the tab and you should be able to get normal car pack of tissues it's the same size

Cool, finding out about such a rare accessory. I have an FG mk2 Falcon. It has a plastic insert under the ICC (interior command centre) of about the same dimensions. Is it a tissue box holder? I have a UHF radio in mine.

Some Ford vehicles in the US got a similar spot for a special-sized box of Kleenex. However, it was hidden inside the center console and un-used.... Except in Texas. We keep things in there.

I have a BA XR6 and saw this coming. Kleenex were selling them in supermarkets under their own brand for about $2.00, compared to $5.00 (from memory) from Ford. I bought about 5 boxes and still have a couple tucked away. Box dimensions are 150mm X 115mm X 35mm.

Interesting, mine is identical height wise, but is wider and deeper. Still fits though, maybe the legitimate tissue box sits a bit looser in the slot... like throwing a sausage down a hallway.

@@MotoringBoxTV I still have the original box from when I bought my BA XR6T new in 2003. Dimensions are 170mm x 113mm x 30mm. Has all the Ford pictures on it and part number. Ran out of tissues a while ago but I kept the box.
