QUICK SPECS: 1/25 Scale, 102 fun to assemble parts; approximately 6.5 inches long once assembled. Molded in white, black and clear with vinyl tires. Decal decorating options. Lots of chrome plated parts. Paint and glue required. Skill 2 rating.
THE PERFECT PRESENT: Spread some retro joy! Maybe you have an avid hobbyist or snowmobile enthusiast in your life. This model kit makes an ideal gift for any occasion! Buy one for brother or dad!
Modified cars can be significantly different from their stock counterparts. A common factor among owners/modifiers is to emulate the visual and/or performance characteristics of established styles and design principles. These similarities may be unintentional. Some of the many different styles and visual influences to car modification are:
Cal look: A modified classic Volkswagen intended to evoke California through the use of bright colours, trim, and accessories.
Drag car: Cars modified for drag racing
Drift car: Cars modified for drifting.
Dub or donk or Hi-Riser: Characterized by extremely large, ostentatious wheels with low-profile tires, loud speaker setups, and abnormally high ride height.
Euro style: Stanced with one-off paint and small wheels, with shaved features to define car body lines.
German look: A Volkswagen Type 1, Type 3, or Karmann Ghia lowered and fitted with late model Porsche mag wheels and touring car-influenced styling. Heavily modified suspension and drivetrain with emphasis on handling and cornering.
Hot rod: Style largely consisting of period-specific vehicles, components, and finishes to reproduce characteristics of early drag cars from the 1930s and 1940s.
Import or JDM: tuned Japanese vehicles.
Itasha: cars decorated with images of characters from anime, manga, or video games
Kaido Racer: Japanese style of cars typically with lowered suspension, bright paintjobs, extreme bodykits and extended exhausts, sometimes inspired by Japanese Group 5 "Super Silhouette" racecars. Commonly associated with the Bōsōzoku.
Kustom: Style largely consisting of American cars built from the 1930s to 1960s customized in the styles of that period.
Lowrider: Hydraulic or airbag suspension setups, custom paint, pinstriping, custom interior, and, typically, small diameter wire wheels. Others may look like straight restorations, aside from a low stance.
Military/service style: Cars designed to look like certain service vehicles.
Outlaw: A modified with more powerful engines and brakes Porsches 356, 911 and Karmann Ghia with more aggressive appearance. This movement took place in Southern California in 1960s.
Rally car: Cars built to compete in rallies.
Rat rod: Style of hot rod and custom cars, imitating the "unfinished" appearance of some hot rods in the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. "Rat style" also defines a car that is kept on the road despite visible heavy wear.
Restomod: Classic cars that combine original exterior styling with modern applied technologies (such as new suspension, wheels, transmission) or modern interior features (multimedia etc.) for comfortable everyday use.
Siren kings: A New Zealand Pasifika subculture where cars or bicycles are modified with loudspeakers or public address systems for use in competitive battles.
South London look: Subtly modified 50's-70's British Fords that are lowered, with pastel paint and 13 inch Lotus Cortina steel wheels or RS, Minilite, or Revolution mag wheels. These cars often use a tuned Ford Kent or Pinto engine.

I really like how you added the fluorescent accent to the body. Nice tip!

The grooves are in the rear tires because those are "cheater" slicks. Back in the day, the NHRA would not allow slick tires in certain classes, so the racers would cut grooves in them to get around that.

Thanks for posting this. I built this when I was around 10 years old in the mid-60's. It came out good, and it was my favorite in the display cabinet for many years. Wish I had a photo if it..

I still remember building that as a kid, I used my 2 dollars I got from mom for hitting a home run in Little League and bought the model and green spray paint, what I remember most was all the trouble I had getting the frame straight LOL

Really cool -- I don't remember Aurora making such neat 1:25 cars. Loved the dry-brushing with moss green. Pity they didn't include decals to duplicate the actual finish but you made it your own, Chris. Imagine this beast with tire smoke billowing out around it all the way down the track.

Yeah, same here. I have this one - the George Barris "Surf Woody" - the Tom Daniel's "Dragon Wagon / Circus Wagon" - the Mooneyes Dragster - the Bob Tindel "Orange Crate" - Ed Roth "Beatnik Bandit" - and a few others in my "show rod" stash. Also, I have used that Lime Ice Lacquer on about half a dozen different builds......that color is super nice ! ..... and that old Testors Lacquer paint lays down really good !

Yes. It does look fiddely but also looks like a fun build. I had so many chances to get this kit and kept passing it up. Now that I see how it looks built up and know it's an actual dragster and seeing the other goodies that goes with it, I want it too. That being said I'll probably never see it again. I was wondering how to duplicate the paint job on the box but I liked the way you did it. Looks even better. 👍 BTY. Loved the spooky tunes,👌it was an excellent touch. 👻🎃👺💀😈🤖👽👹👿🥸🤡☠️🕷️

Ok Chris new comment the only real issue I had with the last issue of this kit was the trick of getting the interior in with out breaking the roll bar ! It was like when i put the interior in it would squeeze the frame in and snap the roll bar in two! And when I asked other guys how the was able to do it , it was like asking a big secret to be shared! And I'm like wait a minute , why all the secrets? Thats kind of unfair to ask questions and I cant tell you because your not a seasond model builder when I 've probably been building longer than lots have

Hey Chris, that lime ice color is awesome, I use that on some of my muscle cars I build. All I can say is you did a great job on this special Halloween build. Everything about all of your detail work is amazing. I have learned a lot of neat ideas and easier ways of doing things with my models, by watching you. The other thing I really appreciate is every build you do you always stress to build your kit the way you want to. I have numerous health issues and this hobby is so relaxing, and when you say build it to make you happy, helps me to relax and have fun, and not worry what anyone else thinks. Thank you Chris, I truly enjoy and look forward to your builds on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

While you thoughtfully showed us the two easy ways to get Super Glue off our fingers (I did not know this) - you did NOT demonstrate cutting off your arm with a hack saw. Yes, you told us, but WHERE IS THE DEMONSTRATION? While your build of this extremely detailed and fidley kit was exceptional - with impressive paint and detailing - I'm downgrading my ten star rating from 11 down to 10 as this important technique went unfilmed. Spookily fun build to WATCH. Thanks for this video and I hope your arm was re-attched with no seams showing.
