I have this kit (didn’t realise it was that old 🤯) and when I build it, I’m not going to be able to do much of a job on the dashboard because my hand will be shaking because I will be continuously giggling over the phrase “clam chillers”. And also the way it was delivered “...and one for the ladies... ... ... clam chillers?” 🤣🤣. And it’s not inappropriate - it’s your internet, you can say what you want.

Love your builds as always!! I built the original Monogram Turbo Version in the 80's as well as the, Z28, Corvette Stingray and Ford T. The bodies were pre-painted in very high quality finishes and were made with much thicker plastic. Zero warpage and perfect fit for the bonnets. Revell has gotten lazy and are skimping on the plastic.

For adequate building and display space I've arranged to rent my neighbor's garage - he no longer has a car. I've ordered a drum of Plastruct glue and several cases of my favorite spray paints are about to be delivered. PLUS, I've order the very realistic kit (I did have to wait for the manager's approval on my cash offer). All this is to say BIG. This kit is HUGE. And what a build. Chris, you are the Styrene Wrangler. Very impressive build. Again, your choice of colors - SPOT ON (although the spots are invisible - right). Thanks again...

Oh, the temptation to nit-pick! I shall resist. I owned or screwed with a bundle of F Bodies in my far-gone youth. What a trip down memory lane. I remember the feel of those three spoke wheels in my hands. You know, the fit and finish of the panels on this kit is pretty much accurate. Gaposis and misalignment was the order of the day. so, the thin hood, no big deal. OK.I'll go there just a bit. The swoosh in the screaming chicken's mouth indicates turbo. I missed the intake but I think That's one of the normally aspirated big blocks. THe Pontiac Blue is spot-on. Pretty sure that is an accurate TH-400 as well. This is an absolute wonder of a kit. This is so amazing! I built the turbo version of this kit as a kid (was way over my head at the time but still loved it), and have been searching ebay for years hoping to find a decent NOS kit and searching KZbin for a good build vid of a 1/8 T/A kit (mostly for nostalgia because I was losing hope of ever getting another one) and now you go and allow me to check multiple boxes on my wish list. I’m still not that skilled at modelling but would still love to try one of these kits again as an adult.

An old Monogram model if I remember correctly? I've got their '82 Camaro IROC-Z from the same series, bought when new and still one of my most favored models. Constructionwise, these two models follow the exact same formula, with the interior tub, front and rear clips, suspension and the hood hinges allowing you to display the model with the hood open. My model has been through a LOT and was quite badly damaged for several years after living on top of a wardrobe closet... but it survived and has been repaired!
@Trueno16002 жыл бұрын
Man, I can't wait for Canadian Hobby stores to finally get some in stock; we're always many months behind the USA :( Then, I'll just have to pray Revell also re-releases the 1/8 Camaro IROC-Z, so I can cross it off my bucket list models! I've been lusting after the 1/8 Trans-Am and IROC-Z since I first saw them in the 1991 Monogram catalog!!! Nice build as always, though the warpage kinda sucks for how much these are selling for... :(

I would like this kit, but the Mrs may go nuts if I buy another 😑. I built the 1/8 Stingray Corvette, it looks great, but a kit this size you would expect opening doors. If I buy this kit I would open up the trunk and doors, although looking at the body on this video the roof pillars will come away from the body if you cut out the doors, will need to add support from roof pillar to firewall before chopping out the doors. Will look great with LED lights too. Great video, very informative and helpful.

Very nice gigantic build! Mine arrived yesterday. Will probably spray it gold and not use the pinstripes. Is it possible your T-tops can be switched from side to side and that may solve the rise they have in the back? The kit instructions are a little off about the taillights. On '79-80 Firebirds, they're smoke black all the way across. The red with white reverse lights is how they were in '77 and '78, but one certainly can paint this kit that way if they choose. Good luck finding a place to display this beast. I'm glad it's available again.

Great build, you have made me feel younger. I had one 8n Nocturnal Blue and sandstone interior. I think you did a great job with the warped parts. Overall - fantastic! The only oddity I saw was that it appeared that the front tires extended out past the front fender flares. That seemed odd to me and not properly proportioned to the build, meaning that the scale of the molded parts seemed a touch off to push them out that. Again, excellent job.
@EddiesGarageCovers Жыл бұрын
That's because he didn't assemble them correctly. The inner half of the wheel goes on the spindle and then the small round keeper goes on the spindle to hold it in place. He jumped the gun. Also he doesn't talk about the issue with the Tires that come with the kit. The factory pre cut side of the Tire is too large and the the wheel sections fall through. Revell has been informed
@michaellindquist312 жыл бұрын
Beautiful and a very detailed and accurate (to a point) model kit. Unfortunately, a glaring error is that the hood shaker decal is wrong on this model. It should say “6.6 Liter” because it is an automatic car which used the 403 CI Oldsmobile engine, not “T/A 6.6” which was reserved for the 4-speed cars which had the Pontiac 400 CI engine. I’m surprised that the Revel QC people didn’t catch that. I didn’t look up how much it costs but imagine if it was metal and not plastic? I was a big model builder as a kid. Anybody remember “The Visible V8”? It was about $25 back in 1965 when I built it.

I had this model back in the 80's I think it was under the monogram company, I also believe that the model I had came in black not silver because I don't remember doing a lot of painting on the model.i believe it cost around 40-50$ at that time, It must of been a successful run because monogram also released a 1/12 69 Camaro and a 1/12 57 Chevy in the same size as the firebird,there might of been an early 70's nova too but I don't recall seeing it,but I did have all 3 mentioned above.. looks like a fun model and could only imagine what the price tag is now..
