I was in an airport late one night waiting on a connecting flight. The only other person at the gate was Taker. I walked over and said that I knew he couldn’t just get up and walk around and asked if I could get him anything while I was up. He smiled and thanked me and said that a bottle of water would be great. That few seconds of him coming out of character in public, back then, was a huge deal and meant the world to me as a fan. I didn’t ask for a picture or autograph and left him alone after that, but the memory is priceless.

Well, just invite Mideon as guest, give him some Jacky and he will interrupt everyone else, while beeing the guest. Don't get me wrong. Mideon is funny and I watch Takers show for the humor, so I don't mind if it gets a little crazy and they are fooling around with each other. But when it gets back to a normal conversation interrupting each other makes it annoying for the viewer or listener.

He hit the nail on the head when he said these guys are so athletic, and they focus so much on that they forget the storytelling part! That is what I have been saying for over a decade now. The wrestlers are better in the ring than they've ever been....but not a single one of them makes me want to buy their merch, or hear their promos, or get excited about their character. Booker T and the Undertaker came from a time when wrestling had more performance art involved in it, and now it's all about kicking out of finishers, backflips off the top of a steel cage, etc etc. Yeah that's exciting, but I need some story involved.

I feel that the wrestlers nowadays need to have all these high spots because they cannot tell the story in the ring or on the mic. In terms of people back in the 70s and 80s, we never had a problem with talking about Rasslin' as my grandmother always called it. I remember chewing up a big wad of bubble gum and throwing it into the ring onto George The Animal Steel's back and it stuck. Cowboy Frankie Lane picked him up and body slammed George and when George went to stand up the gum was stuck between his back and the canvas. The next night George had a shaved patch where the gum was the night before.

There is a hole I see in the presentation as far as tag team wrestling, and using it to propel storylines that are on par with the singles titles. If the Freebird rules are applied, then the belts can be used to advance faction storylines as well as put aside using trios titles. Thanks for reading
