8:19 To explain the necklaces, every summer the campers get a bead to represent the big event of the summer. Since Annabeth and Luke have been at camp for 5 years, they both have 5 beads on their necklace. Annabeth also has her father’s college ring on her necklace.

1:00 it’s because it’s based off of the “Hero’s Journey” it’s a very particular structure. It has been a thing for almost the eternity of humanity. It’s especially shown or maybe even came to fruition throughout Greek Mythology, which is what this show is obviously based off of.

Luke and Percy were never close in the books either . Prophecies are vague , it didn’t say you will be betrayed by a friend , it said “ you will be betrayed by the one who calls you friend” Luke calls him a friend however they never were . What we should’ve gotten are more Annabeth and Luke scenes however I guess we will get flashbacks like the book .

Yeah, i mean when the story STARTS everyone (but grover) is almost on equal footing as Luke, or Luke was closer than the rest because Percy didn't have as many friends. He was a friend but, in the end of book or season 1, not such a friend like annabeth or grover were

Luke was the first friend Percy made in camp, and in the show he felt betrayed by Grover, the only friend he's ever had before. So when he met Luke, he poured all of that longing for a friendship on their connection. He even says that when he burns the offering to talk to Sally. However, it is indeed superficial, and he finds out how true friendship works with Annabeth and Grover, and is able to come to the conclusion that the only one other than them that could be considered a friend was Luke.

@@vengefuljester2090 what lol? i mean i love the show but, to be fair, it quite literally is the fault of the show and the creators if a viewer can't watch it without sitting in a dark room. its a great show but needs better lighting, simple. i shouldn't have to pull my curtains closed and turn my laptop brightness to 100 and still struggle to make things out. big fan otherwise of it but yea the lighting is a little bit irritating

1:00 it is the same structure as the book as well, and the reason for that is that this is how Ancient Greek stories are structured as well, since this story emulates the stories of the great greek heroes like Odysseus and Achilles. I mean, just read the Odyssey and you'll see the same structure clearly

To me this was the best episode of the season, it felt like they were getting better at equalizing dialogue and action - (in this case I get why Ares' fight wasn't as long or Percy would have been killed lol). I get what you meant about the writing and I agree, the books weren't exactly like that tbh, they did some choices that were different from the books (as always, some were good decisions and some were bad). I think that it was hard for them to adapt a book into audiovisual storytelling that's why the episodes felt flat, they just weren't using the tools they had at hand for the tension of the episodes (in times it felt like we were just hearing a book, specially in the long dialogue scenes). Some choices they made however to make the characters seem smarter did break the pacing too imo (like on the books they didn't know about medusa, or about the casino, or even about Luke until he acted out). But anyways i think these are all things that can be easily adjusted for a second season ---> and in a way i think the season season would be easier cause the thing about the first book is that it does have MANY locations so that must have been hard for them. Phew, that's it. I enjoyed your reactions a lot. To answer your question Percy is 12 in this and YES HE'S INSANE (he's truly one of my favorite main characters)

Luke and Percy were never that close in the books either. Its just “someone who calls you a friend” but the real hurt comes from him and Annabeth given that they are family. But also to be fair, this is not the end of his betrayal. As you can see he escapes and will come back. So that’s when the hurt will come in as they are in opposite sides of an upcoming war. Same with the war, it was not to come this season, the whole season is a build up for a war that its still far to come. Its all part of a build up that its still building up.

Yea the show is fine. Ep 7 was my favorite with the Sally/Poseidon scene! I really like Poseidon and the scene with him and Percy was really good. Especially when Percy asked about his mom... I'm sure they'll renew this show and I hope they'll fix what was lacking in this season. Like more Grover/Percy scenes, less Annabeth knowing EVERYTHING, more Poseidon/Sally backstory (because that's not in the books and I love that in the show!)! More action! More anticipation... Well anyway great reaction!

Just a helpful hint - shows with dark scenes are much easier to watch in a dark room. As for Zeus (RIP Lance Reddick), unless there's a big change by the screenwriters, we won't see him in Season 2.

This entire season was weak ngl. The author of the books said he played a big part in the creation… well he mustn’t have read his own books for a while. There is barely ANY tension… I mean hades was meant to be a terrifyingly awesome look god… and they made him into a pussy last ep If you managed to like this series then dam you should def read the books.

@@unknownunion-u2j bruhhh, it doesn’t have to be the books, but if they adapted some other book moments into the tv show then it would be a lot better. Most of the tv adaptations are pretty good, but some of them completely destroy all the tension worked up and made this season feel like a fun day trip where they knew everything beforehand. And “maybe I’ll live a little”? It’s a tv show… calm down buddy it’s not like this comment will effect my life 😂

Luke’s story is so sad. Great. Now I’m crying again. This is my favorite episode out of all of them. 🥲❤️‍🩹 I might have changed my mind about this series. I hope they’re going to improve with the coming seasons.
