A few things to note, it was revealed in Chapter 2 that Asriel would be returning the day of the festival, which has kinda given final chapter vibes. Both protagonists have sort of, for lack of a better term, “tier two” type friends that they know and have relationships with, but aren’t really close to. For Sunny, this is characters like Kim, and for Kris this is characters like Monster Kid.

The bigget parallel between the two games is, imo, their central themes. Both Omori and, so far, Deltarune, are games about escapism. Both feature a group of friends trying to hide from some old trauma. Living in a world that isn't real as a way to escape from the pains of life. The Dark World and Headspace are both that world, for Kris, Susie and Noelle as well as Sunny. The Dark World presents a world where everything just goes right, where you can fix your life and where you would want to stay, just like Headspace, and I predict that that allure will be dangerous. Kris will want to create more dark fountains because the dark world makes them and their friends happier. It lets them escape. And just like in Sunny's case, they could at some point forget what is actually real, and what truly matters.

I really like how these two games feel so emotionally connected, kinda like sister games. You can really feel the mother 3 influence in both, especially when it comes to many of the tragic aspects in both games. Also interesting to note is the Merry CD theme. It's the most direct connection between both games. Being made all the way back in the day by Toby and used in Omori. But since chapter 2 the motif has returned in a fitting but more sinister tone. That would be the loop you hear in the Weird Route when Noelle realizes she's about to fight berdly. Themes of Winter, December and especially christmas also play a significant role in both games. Deltarune because of Noelle and her family (perhaps even the name Kris is tying into that somehow). And in Omori it was the day Sunny got his violin from everyone. The beginning of the end. In Omori snow is used to symbolize isolation, especially noticable in the Hikkikomori route. And in Deltarune it's Noelle's coldness that makes her distance herself from reality and leads to hear freezing and mostly likely killing many people.

I think the comparisons here are pretty spot-on, and when Toby said that his game (Deltarune, in this case) is similar to a friend’s (Omori), it’s hard not to notice the similarities of Omori’s main cast to some of Deltarune’s. Toby could also be referring to the style of the games: indie, story-based RPG with many friendly faces and dark twists within. I do think Deltarune’s story will go in different directions than Omori’s still. Toby is likely to introduce more characters (like Toriel, Asgore, etc) to the darkworld setting, but all I can do is anticipate what effect they’ll have on the story. :/

Fun Fact: the vessel we make at the beginning of the game is saved in the game's data and retained in chapter 2. Thus, if we continue to get bosses paralleling the main bosses in Omori, chances are good the final boss will be the discarded vessel.

Another parallel between Noelle and Basil might be their sometimes selfless natures - Noelle and Basil both suffer from learned helplessness. Noelle lets “Kris” (the player, not actually Kris, of course) make the decisions and succumbs to the pressure she feels from all of their (our) orders. She feels powerless to stop it, or rather, fears what would happen if she fights for control. As for Basil, he doesn’t tell anyone the truth out of fear - fear of what might happen to him, or more importantly (to him), Sunny. He doesn’t even tell Aubrey that Sunny was the one to scribble out the photos, not him. Both Basil and Noelle try to see the best in Kris and Sunny, even falling into patterns of denial in order to cope with very dark truths about Sunny and Kris. They strive to help their respective friends to a fault. In Basil’s case, he wants to believe the best in Sunny, and ends up staging Mari’s death as suicide, covering for him years down the line. In Snowgrave, Noelle doesn’t end up walking away from Kris until after the Berdly fight, because she tries to convince herself that “Kris’s” behavior is justified, and therefore, her aligning actions are as well. Overall, they both are very anxious people who crave validation and want to let others use them. If they can be good tools, then they feel useful, and that makes them feel like they have more power over lives that they cannot fully accept control over. It’s an unhealthy form of security, one might even refer to their relationships as codependent. But yeah, lotsa paralleling with these two

It'd be really funny if we could figure out the end of Deltarune from Omori, but as much as we like to find way too many random connections, and even Toby has acknowledged them, there's still a lot original to both games. Still crazy how much they line up though. Also one more detail, both games have a boss that activates a "bluelight specil" at the very end of their fight that prevents them from taking normal damage. Guess which two. :)

I think deltarune could get as dark as omori, considering Jevil tells us that "FROM NOW, A NIGHTMARE WILL AWAKEN IN YOUR HEARTS." and the specific word 'awaken' being used suggests its something to do with a repressed traumatic memory of some sort.

I’d also like to point out an interesting parallel that fits in with what you were saying about the bosses of both games aligning: Life Jam Guy and Rococo mirror Spamton and Jevil on a scary level. To simply this, I’ll just make a checklist for each pair Spamton and Life Jam Guy: -Insane -Tries to ‘sell’ their product to you by battling -Opens a shop afterwards -Jumps out at you Rococo and Jevil: -Look almost EXACTLY like each other to a creepy extent -Trapped by the person they cared for most (Seam traps Jevil, Sweetheart traps Rococo) -Optional and very easy to miss: with a bit of backtracking needed. -Questionable mental states? Rococo seems mostly fine, but it’s implied after he finishes Omori’s commissions for good, he may die. Jevil is just Jevil Club Sandwhich secret boss when /j

I get these parralels. I actually made a small deltarune fangame (Noelle's forest adventure) which is heavily inspired by Noelle. There I basically go that route that Noelle has a traume she needs to confront... although I did go with a Noelle/Dess instead of a Kris/Asriel. It is one of my proudests works lol. I actually got spoiled about the mari twist because of a comment saying "IT would be lame if Asriel did a Mari since Omori already did that!" Or something like that, still loved OMORI. Goes to show how good a game is if even when I knew the twist I still fell in love!

Imagine the boss was aware of resets or the loop if Jaru's theory is correct though. The baking sibs I see a as a bonus. Pluto, though? Maybe some new support character. For anyone reading this that don't know what that is, in short, the main bosses of DR reflect the pieces in chess, with their personalities and involvement in the plot even mirroring their respective pieces' movements. They also appear in descending order, starting with King, and ending with the pawn. And who would make a better pawn than Kris or the vessel?

Minor spoilers: The similarities are very real (though I personally think Ralsei is more of a combo of Hero and Basil, or even HS Aubrey, than Kel), and there's a good chance Toby was inspired by Omori when working on that the Merry CD for it. That being said, I'm not 100% sure the game Toby said was "very very similar" is Omori. There's a good chance, yes, in which, e.g. case I can see a battle with Kris and Noelle when she 'gets stronger' just like the battle between Sunny and Basil. But it's never been guaranteed and there are several other Earthbound-style RPGs in development around that time which could fit the bill, like Heartbound and OneShot. I'm not sure when they started development, but given the release dates, probably before 2014.

Yeah, I swear. Toby and Omocat definitely had to have this arranged between each other. Cause it's absolutely impossible that ALL of this is coincidental. Some other bits that I think weren't in the video: +Susie is implied to have had an impoverished upbringing, and when we look at Aubrey's house, this certainly was the case for Aubrey. +Hero and Asriel are both universally admired in the town, with everyone looking up to them, seeing them as the perfect golden children. +Ralsei is implied to be holding dark secrets, and we know for a fact that Basil did have them. Ralsei's shyness and avoidance is also possibly due to what he is hiding.

It’s left up to interpretation whether or not Headspace is actually real or not. The lore implies it is much older than Sunny and that it is a realm his mind is occupying rather than the other way around. Much like the potentially supernatural elements of the game, it is left very ambiguous.

i disagree. considering sunny only goes to headspace when he is sleeping/in bed (which is most of the time) im pretty sure its his fantasy world he's made as a coping mechanism. also because it includes elements of the real world stuff he grew up with such as capt. spaceboy comic books and dreamlike counterparts to real world characters (berly and vans being kim and vance). also, the game isn't really supernatural? stuff like something are artistic representations/symbols of trauma, not really actual demons haunting them (unless you mean something else)

@@llumi_nate Generally, the Headspace is real theory states that Headspace is a metaphysical realm that shifts based on whoever is currently occupying it, so things like the manifestations of things from Sunny’s childhood are just sourced from memories. The function which Headspace theoretically serves is to satisfy the desires of its occupant, and due to Sunny’s internal conflict between reclusion and reentering society, Headspace is in a power struggle between Headspace characters, which also double as metaphorical representations of Sunny’s psyche. There are some particular things that are less likely to be artistic representations. The most prominent example is Ghost Mari. She acts just as we’d expect her to based on all aspects of her character and has manifestations that are observed by other characters who also don’t suffer the same psychological conditions as Sunny. Hero hears when Ghost Mari is playing, despite Sunny not being at the piano. There’s a couple other examples of this, like how information Sunny couldn’t possibly know gets incorporated into Headspace, like Aubrey using a baseball bat or Kel using a Basketball for fighting at their full strength. It’s likely they had associations with them as a child, but it isn’t shown to be significant in Sunny’s eyes. No matter what though, there’s plenty of evidence on both sides, and no definitive proof of one idea or another.

Maybe subsequent games will be centered in another person’s occupation of Headspace, idk but it sounds cool and there’s not much that could actually disprove it.

Outback has met other Dreamers and visited other Headspaces, enough that he can point out unusual properties of Sunny's Headspace (unusually large, more colorful/cutesy than the last person's) and knows that Blackspace Keys look different to their respective dreamer. Keeper's castle is a mini-model demonstration of Mr. Outback's lore. It is a blank template that molds itself to the owner's deepest desires. Headspace a metaphysical realm that shapes itself to each Dreamer's personality. The characters, environments, etc. are projections of your thoughts, memories, etc. It's a real phenomena that manages to keep with the psychological elements. You may not personally like this lore, and that's fine, but the point is that Headspace being "real" doesn't strip it of its symbolic and psychological nature. Its baked into how it functions. Ever read the story of the Fisher King? This also provides stronger groundwork for the existence of Mari's ghost and clues us in with what's going on with her and the Something. Specifically, why ber and the Something turn into each other, why her/Something's appearance changes based on Sunny's fear, and what that implies of her presence in this story and her fate in the Neutral and Secret Good endings. Aside from the obvious symbolidm of course. Yes, we know it and Mari are symbols of guilt, but they also play a larger under-analyzed role in this story.

I do like the theory that Kris and Noelle are somehow responsible the disappearance of Dess. The game itself, and external media would appear to imply that this is the case.

There is evidence that dess is dead. :( From the little info, here's the story I pieced together: At some point, Noelle accidentally casted Snowgrave, and dess died. While the spell was happening, Asgore (who was a cop) tried to save dess, but it did not work. Nobody listened to him trying to defend himself, and he was falsely accused of killing Dess. This resulted in that divorce, and Kris, Susie, and Noelle, and many others, got traumatized from that.
