Thank you, Brother Sweat. My mother is losing her eyesight. These teach me the things I probably will never have the privilege of learning at BYU (still working on it!) and give my mother the “book” or education and study she craves -even at 84.

Significant! Thank you so very much for your great insights and help others to understand the meanings and differences between doctrines, policies and some other things clearly! You all do an excellent job. I’m not a teacher or leader and I’m a regular member of the church. I’m a person who loves to find any answers through the scriptures. I don’t know many things well, so I’m so thankful for your remarkable message and great lesson for others to learn about the church and gospel and also church history deeply. WOW, outstanding! Thank you.

Found this presentation so interesting. Must have had a lot of thought research and discussion gone in to it. Very clear explanations and visual aids helped to clarify the points so well. Spoken at a nice pace for me to take in. Some presentations or lectures come at you so fast it's hard to take in all being said. Thankyou so much for the time and effort to give these presentations. God bless you all.

I've always considered three aspects of what we believe. 1. Gospel Principles which never change. 2. The doctrine is the tools and methods we use to teach the gospel principles. 3. The culture that evolves from the tools and methods we use to teach. Only the first of these three is eternal and true in all places for all peoples at all times.

I agree when you say that the doctrine of Christ doesn’t change. They are key principles that help us to embrace every doctrine that is presented or refined to us in this dispensation.

Note the written disclosure statement at the end of BOM Central video shows the name of the church with a lower case t in “the”, rather than standard practice/policy of using using the upper case T in The name of the Church. Probably not a big thing, but an observation.

Advertising General conference as the word of God creates an atmosphere in which very sincere people can experience cognitive dissonance. We are encouraged to listen and dissect every talk as though God is talking directly to us and of course he would speak only true doctrine. Doctrines definitely need to be clarified and in the church we need to acknowledge our God changes his mind. The gospel of Christ is eternal so therefore more dependable when it comes down to it. Remember the confusion in the early church that Paul had to condemn. It is interesting those early members were too focused on the “law.” Hopefully the church can learn from this.

In my opinion.. "Principles" are Eternal, "Doctrines" applies to specific people at a specific time and can be expected to change over time. Doctrines are based on Principles, but (like the presentation of the temple endowment) can change over time, but all Doctrines will be consistent with Eternal Principles on which they are based. I would say that Tithing (for example) is a Doctrine, Keeping the Sabbath Day holy is a Doctrine.

Would you please use your metrics for validating the seer stone narrative as described by Richard Bushman. We feel that the seer stone narrative does not pass the test of your metrics. Although we are not trained historians, we have researched it extensively apart from the assistance of any apologist organizations. We would love your insight.

Doctrine authorised teaching of the church.... Until its not. Didn't Brigham say that whatever he preached was Doctrine, doesn't that mean people living on the sun is Doctrine....
@averykirk2 жыл бұрын
I would be interested in seeing where Brigham said that whatever he preached was doctrine. Because I can think of a few examples of him getting carried away preaching and coming back later saying that he was speaking in the moment rather than the Spirit. So by his actions it seems he doesn't believe that.

@@averykirk I have never yet preached a sermon and sent it out to the children of men, that they may not call Scripture. Brigham Young
@averykirk2 жыл бұрын
@@krissander1 Seems to check out! I would just say to Brigham that he's wrong there according to what we know presently. I love the quote from Elder McConkie on the principle of new and further revelation: "Forget everything I have said, or what... Brigham Young has said... that is contrary to the present revelation. We spoke with a limited understanding and without the light and knowledge that now has come into the works." So yeah, we know as a result of our current understanding that that is not the case even though Brigham may have believed so. But thanks for the quote!
@krissander12 жыл бұрын
@@averykirk but is that not a problem to you that doctrine changes to suit the whims of man.
@averykirk2 жыл бұрын
@@krissander1 The teachings of any one President or Apostle does not itself constitute Doctrine. That's what I would disagree with Brigham on if that is what he's saying there. And when Doctrine does change, it is done with intense care, pondering and prayer from those men called to do so.

what is love? god . the logic of reasoning is the language of the heart. logic mean cant be altered or manipulated ... hiding in the gospel to get towers back to the church is secret combination will end in hell as yourself.
