Never seen a bittern from the bittern hide whereas at island mere they've always been very visible. Lots of great places in Suffolk.

Island Mere Hide is definitely the best 👍 Certainly more to explore in Suffolk any suggestions ?

@CamillaI we only visit once a year but will visit the Hen Reed Beds outside Southwold where I was lucky to get a picture of two harriers exchanging a rodent , often kingfishers, cross the road and walk to the first hide and look back to Blythburgh and in September there's often a resident osprey. At Hazlewood Marshes we've seen spoonbills and last year saw a young Osprey learning to take fish, finally it caught one but thrilling to watch as it took many attempts. Closer to home for you we had a good morning at Thursley Common with Dartford Warblers, kestrels and many others, supposedly a hobby there but we didn't see it.

Well I had just disturbed a Bittern near the Bittern Hide and didn't want to disturb anything else around in a strange reserve to me . Consideration for regulars I suppose 👌
