I'd vow to say that 90% of hunters go a lifetime and never witness such a beautiful animal; you're a very lucky man!
@eileennavarrete56115 жыл бұрын
We didn't have a Unicorn Buck. Ours was an Albino. He was gorgeous. No one ever shot that guy. Bad luck. But a sign of good luck for the hunter to fill his freezer for the winter. A good hunter always whispers the hunters prayer before he goes out. Gives thanks to the one who gives way so you may eat and live another day. And a good hunter who wounds a buck and he runs away, tracks that buck until he finds him.

You wanted to throw up? Well, I MISSED a buck as big as that in SD about 25 years ago that makes me sick to my stomach every time I think of him. Even now, 25 years later at 63 years old I'm sick to the pit of my stomach. The buck I missed was the biggest buck I've ever seen to this day even bigger than huge Illinois Mississippi river bottom bucks that I've seen. We've NEVER seen a buck even 3/4 as big as the one I missed in over thirty years of hunting the same ranch, with over 15,000 acres and only me and my buddy allowed to hunt. Now at 63 I can't walk the 10 miles we had to put in to see bucks like him. We're talking deer that are over 5-8 miles from any road, any trail, no atv riding only walking in/out. Those deer never see a human unless he's on a horse and they don't care. I'm sick now!!!

Olen Hunter dude...look very closely at the deer’s forehead and see the extra pedicle....where a straight vertical 12-13” spike antler grew out of his head like a unicorn. Sometimes it’s acceptable to play on words to get a point across, and o just don’t understand why people have to be so critical and insulting about stupid things like this.
@bigbuck32165 жыл бұрын
@@JakeLatendresse critical or insulting? he admitted he could be the one confused - UniCorn means One Spike - and YES - you have to look very closely to see anything that would conjure a "Unicorn" reference - and that deer is screened by brush and almost always broadside profile angle of the rack - would have never thought anything remotely close to "Unicorn" unless you said something - a horrible misleading name you gave that buck - just a 5 second explanation for the name"Unicorn Buck" in the beginning should have been given - find something else to do - you guys are bad at this .

One time a was fishing on the Mississippi and I had walked almost completely across the river to the other side. On one side their was a power plant and the other was a protected agriculture site for the University of Minnesota. I had walked to the agriculture side and it was a high steep bank. Right in front of me 4 giant bucks came out of the woods and stood side by side on the edge of the bank looking at the river. They all had perfectly semmetrical racks and the leader had the biggest rack. It was so perfect I couldn't believe it. I could not even count the points on the first one. It was literally like a perfect 20 to 30 point typical buck and the next was a little smaller until the fourth. The only thing I can tell you for sure was that the smallest one was a perfect and huge 12 point buck. They were the most perfect bucks I had ever seen anywhere, t.v, magazines, trailcams, you name it. After standing there for about 30 seconds the first one turned down river and then pranced down the edge of the bank. The others followed in quick succession. It was a bachelor group of tight nit elite superior bucks. Could not believe it, I stood there motionless the whole time, even after it happened I just sat there and thought for a while and tried to recall all the details.

mark rigsby --- Why would you shoot some deer that was that Great? --- The Greatest thing about a mature buck is that he's already passed on his genetics to at least 5 - 10 years worth of Fawns . Every January / February during the early thaw (usually) these whitetail deer lose their antlers and every late summer they grow a new set for the fall . Truth is a young buck doesn't grow a massive amount of antler only mature bucks produce that much . Mature bucks also have more meat on their skeletal structure , the True purpose behind Hunting is food . Hunting is enjoyable and it also keeps the genetics from bottle necking . You don't want the same 1 buck breeding year after year for 5 - 10 years straight , you'll eventually have degraded deer . I've seen people who didn't manage their cattle properly and the bull bred his own offspring , the results were sad . The same thing happens with sheep , goats , horses , dogs , etc ,. Every where there was whitetail deer there used to be wolves , with the majority of large predators in decline or extinct in these modern areas , there's no real way to manage the wild prey species to keep a healthy dispersal in place .
