There is something so incredibly beautiful about an old retired racecar, you can literally see its historic battlescars and all the modifications and repairs its had while fighting. When Porsche recently restored Jacky Ickx's 959 Dakar car it was very tastefully done as more of a mechanical recommissioning. I can't wait to see the story of this very special Diablo ❤. Hello John. Cheers from the Diablo Fan from France (one day I will come to Miami to meet you, and another day to make a deal with you. The day I would manage my entreprise, Diablo as aim). I wonder, as a racing car, it is normal she gains evolution from its team to make it faster. Why do you prefer to choice a restauration in original factory release form and not restoring in its final evolution as JLOC made it with expanded wheels arches and coverd headlamps, big wings, livery, BBS... But still sourcing/keeping original parts with the cars for the next owner? My point of view and heart differ but you are wright too, and it stills a beautiful... marvelous and heart taking, breath taking project. Just, I would appreciate you to develop your choice ( I am sure to not be the only one to be curious of this choice, some says it should remained with its scares from racing, just refreshed). Hopefully you dont over restore it. Race cars aren't put together perfect. Just stuck together with " thats good enough" attitude. They did not care about panel gaps. I actually love all the chipped paint, dirt, and grime. To me the battle scars have value too. But I have no idea how you keep that stuff and restore it. The fiberglass fenders are perfect. Race cars get banged around so you would want cheap body panels. Awesome stuff. Glad someone so passionate found it and is bringing it back.

Very stupid to rip of parts from racecar. In racing you are continously developing the car and every wing and every door is just as valuable part of the car’s history and just as original as the first components how it was delivered. Ofcourse it will get better working aero parts, wings, lighter carbon doors over the time. Everyone can see that the factory wing is horrid from aero perspective. In my opinion racecar is closest to what team wanted from it in the spec when it raced last time, not the first. It is constant evolution. It is a journey. Treating those parts on the floor like that and ripping them off is sacrilegious and then last nail to coffin will be restoration when all of this car’s history has been completely lost - thanks to this muppet who does not know better. Ps. Ofcourse parts will be part carbon, part glue part kevlar part steel... what ever as long as they can get the part ready for next race. That is exactly authenticity. pps. Gold wheels look way better and are original, they are under the car right now. And this car never was white, it is another car like pointed out another commentor. Sometimes you should just understand to let stuff be.
