Good work Barrie, can you also check into the much higher insurance quotes I’ve heard about for EV’s? The insurers seem to be favouring scrappage over repairs and factoring it in?

Brilliant piece, hence why there are no small cars being made anymore 🤯

Euro 6 DPF failures and ULEZ are further disincentives . I shall keep my S212 250cdi and Honda Jazz. Still have 94 Volvo 855 and 93 190E from new. 👍🏻🏴

If they’re all bleating Barrie why is it that at auction dealers are snapping up EV’s? As a private buyer I’m struggling to buy one.

Top tip, to make Barry's vids less painful to sit through, (not the content just the time it takes) set the speed to x1.25.....

There needs to be a carbon based tariff, cars built in china and India have a cost advantage because of the environmental damage caused by their electricity generated by coal. To be fair we should set a zero tariff for cars built in countries with the same or less emissions than the uk 168g of CO2. Countries that cannot meet these environmental energy standards have an advantage and to support uk car production a tariff should be added to encourage other countries produce low carbon energy. EVs are built in countries with dirtier energy grids than the uk..

The flaw in your argument is that we need more co2, not less.
@tobycolin62712 ай бұрын
@ no we need a level playing field. If it cost more to build cars in the uk where energy emissions are 168g of Co2 per kWh then other countries should be tariffed. Germany has a co2 per kWh of 380g , china 582g and india 820g. As Co2 emmissions are directly proportional to energy price a CO2 tariff should be applied. The same should also be applied to allow our farmers to compete. We have the higher standards in electricity and food production but we import inferior products from countries that do more harm to the environment.
