So many unique drag racing machines from the 70s. Don Schumacher's Wonder Wagon Vega panel wagon funny car that was painted like a loaf of bread. Hell On Wheels army tank wheelstander. Doug Rose's Green Mamba that looked like a giant green snake. Knott's Berry Farm wheelstander that looked like an old delivery truck. Saw a rocket powered go kart at Fremont. Insane. We'll never see that creativity in drag racing again.
@MUSCLECARCORNER4263 ай бұрын
Hello wow so those are the backbone of drag racing back in the day. I personally saw Doug roses green mamba several times they would anchor it down and put a car behind it and just light that car up until it was a shell but I did see it run also back in the day Schumacher wonder wagon was a super cool piece. Great memories thanks so much for your comments and pleased. Subscribed my KZbin channel. Appreciate you. 👍😎

What dreams are made of, the funny cars. My two favorite cars are, Mongoose and Cobra, I'm now 67years old, as a kid growing up in the 60s I remember those two cars as being the coolest cars around, long live the child in all of us.💓💓💓💓💓😎🤗😏🙃😉

Hello Brian agreed When we were kids and saw these cars running, it was amazing. I don’t think I ever got anything that got my attention as a funny car did back in the day. You just couldn’t wait to hear these fire breathing Hemi back in the day You know, in today’s world there’s really nothing like it was back in the day. There were so many people went to the dragstrip. It was a huge family gathering that everybody went. I grew up going to Gatornationals me and my dad and a couple friends would go and camp for four days by the track it was the best getting back into Nhra again after being away for 15 years it’s pretty cool still I’m enjoying it. @MUSCLECARCORNER4263 ай бұрын
Hello well that’s one way of looking at it, but on the other hand, it’s preserving the history of drag racing because it gives a lot of people chances to visit the museum and learn more about it if they’re not a long-time fan and the young kids need to know about this history as well so it’s preserving the history of Nhra and drag racing thanks for your comments👌✌️

Do you think the photo is a phony? (pony?) I'm not sure what you mean, but he car is the real deal. It's the Kens Automotive "Odd Couple". Small block Chevy with Hemi ran in Top Gas Eliminator. Car worked great and took the Top Gas class at Pomona in 1971. Both engines do not have to be the same to work together. There were a few cars with different combos of engines including the Coburn Miller special from the early 60's, which also ran a SBC/Hemi set up. Thanks for posting!
