Just watch the left shoulder . His mass is getting out of the way and allowing it room to pull up . Pretty natural move just done extremely well .

Lengthening the moment arm is what I think he was suggesting, important in that MA = the mass times the square of distance to the rotation axis. So every inch added is squared = huge increase in force. Please go into detail on this video TPI!

He's selling something! It's the teaser to get us all lathered up and pull us on. From what I can tell and from what other coaches/analysts say it's that we don't have enough width. He's got a full should rotation and extended/straight lead arm. Someone with swing diagnostics would be able to say what this is. But, the further away the hands are from the body in the downswing the more speed is generated.

Finally figured out how my 5’ 7” 118 pound son can swing above pga tour avg speeds pw through his 7 iron. He dives back on impact, crazy part is he normally manages to exceed tour smash factors from wedges through 7 so he is also striking the ball pure. From 6 on up club speeds drop, his attack angles are too steep and I dont think he has properly timed the longer clubs so head speed is below max at impact. When he grows into an adult, and figures how to time his driver my guess is he will cruise in mid 120s on his driver. The best part is he looks to barely swing yet he crushes it. I need to learn to do the same thing.

Thanks Dr. Kwon.. I mean guys at MyTPI. Did you just tell people at the very at of the video right there to start pushing the ground with their spine already tilted away from the target? You have to transfer weight to your left foot with the spice vertical (or leaning slightly toward the target with irons) to GET the force ahead of the center of mass and create a long moment arm, and THEN the spine tilts rapidly away as the left foot puts pressure into the ground throughout the rest of the downswing. I know you know that, but that's not what you just demonstrated right there. So people might get confused.

I didn’t understand any part of this. If you were talking about a lug nut wrench then it’s obvious, the longer the wrench and the further away from the nut, the more torque at the nut. But I don’t see how that applies to a golf club. You’re not pushing on the end of a golf club. Where exactly is the moment arm and how exactly are you lengthening it.
@Rick-tf4dl7 ай бұрын
to make this simple the axis of your hips draw a straight line and the draw a straight line through the axis of your sternum (center of your chest) imagine shoulder height through these 2 lines at this imaginary line measure the distance between the two lines this kid sternum axis line is 13 inches behind the hip axis line severe side bend with your upper body this is where his torque comes from crazy I will wear a lower back brace and give this a try lol im old
@nokia53597 ай бұрын
The handle is the sternum and the nut is at club head. Now make you shoulder the handle. You added a foot to the bar. That how i understand it. Hope i am right 😅

I studied physics and engineering and I"m in same boat as you. Not sure I"m grasping how a greater ft/lb # (the moment) is achieved while nothing is being exerted any further out than the hands on the club. More to point, I'd have to understand what I would need to do to get this result. Not calling it BS, just saying I don't have my head around it yet.

@MrKillahippo7 ай бұрын
one thing to practice, practice eliminating as much tension in the back swing will help. added bonus, u can feel rotating further back is easier, adding more speed in your down swing. I found that helpful for me, as i keep the back swing loose, i get my power and distance follows. just last week I won the longest drive in our comp. 308m(336y) rolled onto the green, the group in front was still putting. not to shabby for an old stiffer 64yr. with a 9hc.

in this example, torque is not best described as a twisting motion, given your focal point is your wrists not the center of the shaft..... but otherwise, good getting folks thinking about some basic physics.

When you demonstrate lag you are showing it with an increase in your right elbow bend. This isn't where lag happens and is a common point of confusion

I am calling BS. He has incredible strong supple wrists. Most humans don’t have this speed/strength combo in their wrists. This allows the lag and more importantly the ability in the last 25 degrees of left forearm to impact to release 90 degrees of lag. ITS THE WRISTS. Measure his forearm/wrist strength, mobility and flexibility. There you will find the answer
@habs76467 ай бұрын
guy prolly has 20 more degrees of wrist abduction or radial deviation than normal people to hold that much lag like garcia, cam champ and knapp. theyre all weak guys in the gym but generate 190 ball speed. garcia maybe 175 but hes smaller in height
@JustusSeiber6 ай бұрын
Wait till you find out what lag comes from lol. It’s a result of functioning your body the correct way. If you turned like a Cameron champ or Min Woo Lee or DJ, you would be forced to lag the club and lean the shaft. If you flip it, you will gouge the dirt before the ball. You flip the club as a result of poor body work
@habs76466 ай бұрын
you dont only cast with poor body work, you cast if your wrists are not flexible enough also. My point is that this guy has extreme flexibility in his wrists, therefore he can hold a 130* angle on the downswing.@@JustusSeiber
@JustusSeiber6 ай бұрын
@@habs7646 if you can simply wave “hello” then you have enough flexibility to create lag. You’re just saying stuff that’s pure wrong
@habs76466 ай бұрын
lol ok buddy. I guess everything that i've learned from TPI certifications are wrong. Let's forget that flexibility in golf isn't important to having a good golf swing. I've had several clients coming in for a lesson that only had 15 degrees of trail wrist extension and gaining 30* over 6 months helped them ALOT create more lag.@@JustusSeiber
