As I read in the Doctor Who RPG Books, the Time War was constantly changing history in the entire universe (even the Doctor's origins and life). They wrote that it was the reason why the 21st century is different in the 2nd Doctor's era. I guess this is what happened to the history of UNIT too.

I’d agree with you but the later half of the 20th century, more specifically the 1970s - 1990s were timelocked due to their importance, especially due to the Doctor. Though it would provide a good explanation rather than “Writers forget”

Change the year of "The Web of Fear" from 1975 to 1965 and you get the timeline as it's existed since "Mawdrwn Undead." Victoria misspoke, that's all!

I actually assumed that because LBS lost his memory his ‘retired’ before he joined unit because the people rebuilding his memory used his official service record, which didn’t include his time in a secret organisation.

That’s a fair theory actually, and fits pretty well to solve that!

Time can be rewritten. The details change, but the story stays the same. Like how every time DC reboots their universe, the characters always experience the same events in the new timeline, but in a more recent time period. So if the past gets changed by someone like the Grand Serpent, or Mawdryn, or the Daleks, UNIT's timeline gets shifted a little bit into the future, but the major events such as the Brigadier retiring and the Cyberman invasion stay the same.

The last UNIT was not "Android Invasion" yet "Seeds of Doom" -with no regular characters, yet UNIT helps fight the Krynoid with the 4th Doctor.

There are some British accents where 'th' is pronounced like 'f,' and it's possible to also have the 'i' occasionally sound like an 'o' in speech (though I'm not sure how well that corresponds to the characters who were talking). So, The Web of Fear could have taken place in 1965, and The Invasion in 1969. How's that look as an excuse?

What?

@@Dray1 Basically, it's possible for 'thirty' to sound like 'forty' by a combination of accent and mishearing.

Admittedly, it doesn't fix the 'Sarah-Jane says she's from 1980' part, but that has other problems, given that Sarah hadn't seen the Doctor for several years by the time of K9 and Company, which was set in 1981.

@@Dray1 basically, ignoring Sarah's offhand remarks about being from the 80's, the web of fear could very well take place in 1965 or later, as the person that said "it had been 40 years" since the Abominable Snowmen, could have been talking with a very thick accent and what sounded like "40" was meant to be "30". Granted it's been a while since I've seen the web of fear, so I'm not too sure on who said it had been 40 years, or how thick their accent sounded.

Can i humbley suggest that the brigadier could have time travelled after the three drs aged and the dr dropped him off in wrong time period, unit could not have two lethbridge stewarts at same time so the older one was asked to leave medical grounds and he went into teaching mathematics? Could this explain?
