The same people who complain that Australia is increasing defence spending are the ones complaining that the US are basing in Australia, are we building our sovereign capability to defend ourselves or using another nation to do it? You can’t complain to both.

The history books have recently shown that countries like Switzerland, and Ireland, neutral countries, are now taking sides, and even putting a large chunk of their GDP's into their military due to increased risk from attack from Russia. Why can't the same be applied to Australia and China? A neutral policy only weakens our military potential, and makes us a clear target for China to disrupt the U.S.

It's actually worked out well for the USA. The spending for us Military spending has always been around 3% of GDP. 30% of military spending goes to the Military industrial complex. R&D is expensive. Do you know the bare basics of how a military works?
@modonohue9980
@modonohue9980 7 ай бұрын
@@e.g.8018 Does anyone known how the military works? I don't think even Australian generals really know what they are doing. What I do know is that since the Korean War, the Australian army has only existed to serve as an extension of a larger coalition army, usually led by the US. My comment was that politicians stressing of the word 'interoperability' demonstrates the mindset of the Australian military being designed to operate as part of a larger US led command structure. The problem with it is that it has institutionalised a culture of dependency among policymakers. They almost can't imagine an independent Australian defense that doesn't fundamentally rely on US capabilities. For them, national defense means producing capabilities that would serve to bolster US power, at the expense of Australian state sovereignty.

Yes true! But back then the Japanese were financially broke & in heavy recession forcing them to expand outwards as the aggressors into Asia, whereas now it’s actually America now in the worst foreign debt ridden level of recession, of which it’s now the expansionist aggressor trying to find any enticing excuse to dominate the lucrative foreign trade markets in both the Chinese & Australian asean region! Thus staging a thermonuclear confrontational exercises to kick start a third world war that cannot be safely contained to a specific battlefield region to avoid mass civilian casualties! Henceforth, the current geopolitical situation relative to the US military occupation today is completely different than military occupation here during WW2! Hence during WW2 the US military forces were here as a protective defensive force, now today currently the US military buildup here again in australia more than 80 years later is an pre-invasionary force along with our support as the aggressors against trade economic rivals inclusive of China.

I'm not in favour of foreign troops on Australian soil. We should be able to defend ourselves without having to partner with a loose cannon that is the United States. As the old saying goes; "if you sit with dogs, you'll get up with flees". Have we already forgotten how we got dragged into wars in Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq. Do we want to get dragged into Taiwan or wherever else the US decide to invade?

Yes, we do. The reality is, China’s government is incredibly hostile towards regional powers. They interfere in our politics and coerce with economics. Without the US as a counterbalance and an alliance with Japan and potentially India, China will roll right over us. There is no place for Australian prosperity in a world controlled by the CCP.

I am more concerned about the corrupting influence of American dollars on our politicians, than of any Chinese threat. When the Americans get a toe hold in here they will be paying politicians for the results they want and wont give a stuff about our democracy, they dont much care for their own. It is not good when anyone, friend or enemy, tries to manipulate us, but from what I've seen, China is more dangerous, and more likely to act like a spoiled child if they don't get their way. The Australian housing market/real estate was cooling off and correcting from 2016 right up until 2019 - and then they acted. This is well documented. In March 2020 several taxpayers funded "housing protection schemes" were enacted, things such as slashing interest rates to almost zero, allowing early access to superannuation, "homebuilder" and other renovators' programs, increased first homebuyers grants in addition to pre-existing investor protections such as negative gearing. Since 2022, increasing interest rates are being accounted for and countered by unprecedented amounts of mass immigration in order to prevent any price falls through artificially generated demand and therefore artificial shortages. They do not want the correction that started in 2016 after the end of the mining boom to repeat and they are making sure it doesn't - at our collective burden and cost. There would be no issue with this self-serving behaviour if the renting class was not forced to contribute to it. This is discrimination plain and simple, which you need to oppose and resist in any manner appropriate to you. This message is aimed at renters and otherwise homeless, you need to present a united front and resolve this problem by any means necessary. Never forget and never forgive March 2020, when they acted against you.
