The U.S. government admitted to illegally overthrowing the queen. But that official apology was just words. Ever since, Native Hawaiians have continued to lose their land to money interests. And the desire to profit off these islands has not stopped, not even after the devastating fire in Maui.

She dedicated her life to herself until after the overthrow. The Kawananakoa family was full of tools, the primary ones being Kalākaua and Lili'uokalani. Don't believe me? Look at what they did to get Kalākaua to win the election. First, they conducted a major smear campaign against Queen Emma, to include essentially calling her a half breed and making it seem like she was unfit to be Mō'ī. Kalākaua and his sister also cut backroom deals with the house of nobles and the sugar barons to give him the political edge in the election; literally buying their votes. Ironically, the same people that got him elected were the same ones who overthrew the Kingdom just a little over 20 years later.

@@doloinc kawananakoa is a collateral branch of the kalakaua family through kalakaua and liliu'okalani and kalakaua's grandmother kamokuiki, through her daughter, kekahili, through her son, david pi'ikoi, through his son, david kawananakoa. your claim of "half breed" was done by those not aproving queen emma's marriage to kamehameha IV. long before the kalakaua dynasty. idk what your talking about "cheating". it was a choice made by the house of nobles and in actuality ONLY them. this is why queen emma's supportters rioted. as far as we know, they didn't know that the house of nobles were the ones who had the final say

The Polynesians saw the golden warbler flying overhead.. they knew there had to be an island in that direction so they built their canoes and they followed the birds.... they can only follow them for a mile or so before they would disappear.... the next year they would be right there waiting for the golden warblers to come by and they would follow them a little more, 400 years later they found Hawaii.... they brought special plants with them and they inhabited and lived on the island and everyone hears their descendants that's originally from Hawaii they are Polynesian. You people are just plain infuriating in the attempts to soft-soap the stealing of the Ancestral Lands of Aboriginal and Indigenous people and their cultures AROUND THE PLANET. The MISSIONARIES-YES, THE MISSIONARIES led by the Dole and del Monte families had with the British Navy orchestrated the takeover BY FORCE of the Hawaiian Islands. The Franciscan and the Jesuits were complicit as always, in some real dirty dealings toward the natives. Among the major items was NO Cultural Events. No Hula and no Hawaiian language are allowed to be spoken either as these families were of the same as the Mayflower-the extremely prudish Puritans! Imagine the men after being on those vessels with only their women wearing clothes up to their ears and dragging dresses two feet behind. They never even got to see a females' elbow in YEARS! Now they see the scantily clad nubile young Wahines at their fabulous best after MONTHS stuck on a ship with the aforementioned in the heat, the humidity, the absolute pent up l*st as those beautiful brown bodies undulating and sensually arousing the pent up frustrations.....yeah, that was not going to happen much longer we're afraid. @@petergould9174 Maybe. But what's the counter argument? Historically, Hawaii was not a unified kingdom until after King Kamehameha I conquered the islands. That was the late 1700s, early 1800s. The last island was incorporated into the kingdom i n 1810. Hawaii was annexed in 1898. King Kamehameha also used cannons seized from an American vessel a Hawaiian tribe had captured, too. Is it only okay when they do it to themselves? That's a question you need to either evade or answer in the court of public opinion. Because when you criticize what America did, someone IS going to clap back with "well, we were only doing what they were doing to each other". And you have the added hurdle of it not even being ancient history. The American Businessmen and America came not even a century after one island conquered the others.

Natives did far worse things to each other than the big evil white man ever did. Even if you look at things like the sand creek massacre in Colorado. They never tell you the reason why the white reacted the way they did. The sand creek massacre for example was a reaction to an Indian raiding party that attacked a young family. They cut the dad up into pieces and put the pieces into a barrel, graped the wife and will they did that they also chopped her kids up and put them in the same barrel. Then they killed her and stole all of their stuff. Natives were not some peace loving hippies that whitey just decided to go after one day

Fake history : Here you go. A BRIEF HAWAIIAN HISTORY : For 400 years (1400-1890) islanders from over 30 Pacifi islands colonized the archipelago that came to be known as the Sandwich Isles. All natives were slaves of the Ali'i Tabu chiefs. Chief Kamehameha the 1st and his advisors John Young and Isaac Davies militarily col L1qnquered the Sandwich Islands (Hawaii) with English canons, muskets and Chinese black powder (1790ad). In 1796 armored US merchant vessels provided artillery fire as cover for Chief Kamehameha’s siege at Pearl Harbor during the landing for the battle of Nu’uanu. 'King' Kamehameha appointed Ali’i Nui John Young to be the governor of the Big Island of Hawaii and Isaac Davies became his minister of affairs on Oahu. Now in control of all trade King Kamehameha began ship building. He appointed Captain Alexander Adams as the Commander of the Hawaiian Navy. He was tasked to deliver the Sandalwood and that was cut by the Hawaiian slaves to China and the orient. Alexander Adams created the state flag we use today. Kamehameha the 1st took a census of Hawaii in 1810. There were 39,000 people living in the islands at that time, less than the town of Hilo today. Kamehameha the 2nd, his regents and all of the Ali'i ended the Kapu religions and removed all temples from The Islands. The Christian missionaries arrived shortly thereafter and by combining all of the Austronesian dialects into one Anglophilic language they created the 'Olelo' for the printing of a native newspaper. The Russians attacked (twice) along with France and England), thus the US/Hawaii protection treaties of have been in effect since 1826 to keep us safe. Kamehameha the 3rd created the first ' Hawaiian Constitution' in 1838 which freed all native slaves and stated "all men are of one blood” equal in the kingdom regardless of race color or creed. He created the three branches of government. (1840's) and the Organic Acts of 1845-46 On June 24, 1845, a Joint Resolution was enacted by the legislature of the Hawaiian Kingdom and signed into law. John Ricord, who was the Attorney General of Hawaii was called upon to draw up a complete set of the existing laws embracing the organic forms of the different departments, namely, the Executive and Judicial branches. These laws were to outline their duties and modes of procedure. This brought forth the First Act of Kamehameha III to Organize the Executive Ministries. The Second Act of Kamehameha III was to Organize the Executive Departments. The Third Act of Kamehameha III was to Organize the Judiciary Department. These Acts came to be known as the Organic Acts of 1845-46. Kamehameha 3 and his legislature created the Great Mahele land divisions where the chiefs would own their kuleanas (lands) and could control and sell them. Kamehameha 4 passed the Alien Land Sales Act which allowed properties to be sold fee simple. Most Ali'i sold their kuleanas (properties) then moved into towns or to the mainland. In doing so the Ali'i often displaced many Maka'ainana and Kauwa when they sold their lands. Native Hawaiians went to school and became literate and became, great, loggers, teachers, lawyers, doctors, writers, road makers, shop owners, policemen, hotel owners, musicians, statesmen etc. Kamehameha 5 died without an heir and left all power and all Crown Lands with the government and the legislature. The legislature and nobles voted in Lunalilo as the chief executor of it's democratic constitutional monarchy. Lunalilo died after 1 year. The Nobles and The Legislature then chose David Kalakaua as the head of the Executive Branch of Hawaii. David Kalakaua, a lawyer and 33rd degree Freemason signed into law and stood by his final Constitution of 1886 which established a balanced and fair constitutional government (republic) where laws, not kings ruled the land. He created the building codes and health dept. He brought electricity and telescopes to the islands. He traveled the World encouraging people to move here to bring wealth and labor to the islands. In 1875 and 1887 he ceded land and sea to the USA at Pu'uloa and Pearl Harbor for a permanent naval base. His treaties mandated that one US warship would be kept in Hawaiian waters at all times. He stationed Marines there since 1875 to assist the Honolulu Rifles combat the rioters (Emmaites) during the civil wars of the 1880's and 90's. Since 1843 the five noble kings and Prince Kuhio all appealed to the USA for annexation for fear of Japanese, Russian, Chinese and other hegemonic imperialist states. David Kalakaua passed away unexpectedly. After swearing an oath to the 1886 Constitution, The Nobles and The Hawaiian Legislature allowed his estranged sister Liliuokalani Dominis, to assume the role as proxy monarch, figurehead of the government. Unfortunately, Liliuokalani attempted to overthrow the incumbent government by secretly staging an armed rebellion against the legal government of the Hawaiian Islands. By 1890 the days of 'absolute monarchs’ were 50 years past. The prior five kings had all surrendered to the democratic rules of law. The congress of nobles and statesmen met for 160 continuous days in what was historically known as 'The Longest Legislature' which was to deliberate and judge Liliuokalani crimes and impeachment. She without question broke the laws of the land and was sentenced 5 years in prison for treason. After serving months in detention in her home she willingly abdicated all claims of dictatorial powers and swore an oath to the Republic of Hawaii in the presence of her lawyers and family. She received a large sum of money and properties and remained the governess of Oahu. Queen Victoria, The Czars of Russia, ambassadors, kings, and presidents of the all major countries of the world sent official letters of acceptance of the new Republic of Hawaii. These letters can be found in the Hawaii State Archives. The legitimate government Hawaii and the USA then made powerful and binding acts, treaties and joint resolutions towards a union. USA forgave all debts of the Hawaiian Kingdom. Prince Kuhio called for annexation with the USA and spent the last few decades of his life fighting in US Congress to pass his US/Hawaii Statehood Admissions Act. When finally accepted by the USA 93% of Hawaii's voters voted for and rejoiced in becoming the 50th state of the United States. The laws and government that the last five noble kings created are still the form of government we have in Hawaii today. Since 1838 all men and women have been equal and free subjects and citizens of the kingdom, territory and state of Hawaii. All people were invited here by the kings. All big titles were signed by the kings. Equal and legal are all races of people in the Kingdom, Republic and State of Hawaii.

@mrminerva2

Many islands joined Kamehameha willingingly and those who didn't still retained their individual lands, practices and traditions after the unification of the islands. Many chief were even kept in charge of their lands. And the population as a whole began to thrive more than ever before. When the Buissness men took over Hawai'i they introduced laws reducing the rights of the Kanaka Maoli citizens, and reduced access to cultural traditions and knowledge (at one point it was illegal to teach the Hawaiian language). Completely and to some degree irreparably changing and erasing important practices and teachings of our Kupuna ('elders'). If I'm not mistaken there are currently more Native Hawaiians outside of Hawaii than within our ancestral homeland. Largely because it has become to expensive for most average or below average earning families to afford to live, and it is directly due to the illegal (as admitted by President Clinton) take over of the Hawaiian Kingdom by the U.S., and the continued greed of wealthy people and government. Those two events are not at all comparable.

I'm talking about the fall out and it's long term affect on the culture and the people. How can people get over this??? If we can't even stop using the racist and ignorant term: INDIAN after centuries, people keep calling us the indigenous people of this continent (even you keep making this mistake in your own videos) a Borinquen is not an Indian . Here in the USA even the blacks can't be called a N....!!! Honestly calling an indigenous person from this continent an Indian is just as offensive!!! They don't even want to call us by our real names or let our cultures be. Know and respected. A Salvadorian Lenca, or pipil are not Indians we had our own territory culture and dialects.

Just drove through Arizona, Wyoming, Montana. Native tribes still call themselves Indians. The word Indian is plastered everywhere on tourist attracting signs. Ask why.

I'm from Hawai'i and there is a whole lot here that many people do NOT understand. Many Hawaiians sold their land. Read a book called 'A Stolen Kingdom'. If it had not been the US it would have been England or France or some other country. Its been going on since the beginning of time. Before you comment read Hawai'is History. Its not so cut and dried as you think.

If it wasn’t us it would have been Japan. Ask the Chamorro people how the Japanese treated them before the USA liberated them. I have never met a more patriotic people than the people of Guam.

This lady is jealous, the KZbin lady. She said colonizers are taking over PR but does not call PR’s in NYC Colonizers. She is a hateful person that benefits from the US, then whines! A TYPICAL AOC socialite!
