So Around 1:23. 2nd Officer Tormi Ainsalu calls for mayday and tries to reach to mariella. Because of the list, messages were prevented to reach mariella so the mariella got confused for random messages. The only cleared voice is ”Mayday Mayday Estonia Please” And about *7* seconds later Tormi Ainsalu falls to the ground. 3rd Officer Andres Tammes is forced to take care of the mayday message and changes channel to Silja Europe. The radio clears and he finally gets contact to silja europe! There he does the mayday call which is the original mayday call that we all know! So right here is the First mayday call.
@TheThirdFall3 жыл бұрын
No, it wasn't a matter of changing channel. It was broadcast on Channel 16, only that Silja Europa established contact with Estonia first, so she was appointed the OSC. Mariella was closer, but radio can behave strangely.

@@TheThirdFallI agree, in fact the entire mayday call and all the responses back and forth between Estonia and the other ships and rescue operators were all conducted on channel 16 IIRC, and this was noted as being against regulations and somewhat irregular as after the initial mayday is answered I believe the ships communicating with each other are supposed to switch to a channel other than 16 to continue communications. I suppose only having one operator and radio set working on Estonia could have been the reason they didn’t switch frequencies to work out rescue efforts with the responding ships while continuing to broadcast a mayday and listen for additional stations to respond on 16 on another radio set.

This was the first mayday call and was only recorded at MRSC Turku. Apparently all the ships started recording after this first call. The "official" version was recorded at Silja Symphony.

This part of the radio transmission is in the documentary “Livlinan som brast” by TV4 And there it is much clearer and not so noisy 👍

Could this background noise be the one that the Helsinki radio operator complained about when making the Pan pan call?

Phew where does this come from? I mean there is a direct transition between a lot of noise and hardly anything understandable and the well known call afterwards in good quality. So if this is one audio file it should be possible to find out if this is faked or real - if it's real it would raise some questions in regards to one of those rumors that signals were first jammed due to a military training in the area - which I doubt since the mayday call surely wasn't the only radio message that night an a jammed signal would have been noticed by all other ships during regular communication. Why not send the original file to the person from the documentary Evertsson, since the documentary stirred up a lot he might dig into it and either proof it wrong or not.
@TheThirdFall3 жыл бұрын
I believe that this is a dramatisation/reconstruction. It's known that Mariella turned on the voice recorder after the initial weak mayday call, and I think the documentary simply wanted to show how confusing it was for Mariella that night.
@J.R.in_WV5 ай бұрын
You sort of answered your own question….the reason this wasn’t included as a major point in any of the documentaries that were made to try and get new, more accurate and complete answers on what happened is because it was deemed insignificant and not a major point of interest.

They knew the same morning how it happened, without research without even knowing the wereabouts of the ship and immediately adopted that thesis as the official narrative, and kept it for over a decade. Even though it was declared impossible by years long investigation and engineers. They refused to salvage a single body even tough they could, they banned anyone from doing research in the area under the guise of "grave desecration", and buried the entire ship with rocks and sand. Then in 2020 the outward expanding holes in the hull, denied for well over a decade, proven to be there. And now it "might" have been a "russian sub" that crashed in it,not once, but TWICE?? And ill guess you all believe that if your priesthood of mainstream narratives decides to accept that as cannon.. Everything outside of that is "conspiracy theory"... Learn to think critical and spot obvious things that arent right. People that hide and bury things arent to be trusted, that shouldn't have to be explained..
