I deeply appreciate your honesty and openness to discuss this. It's opposite of the way I was trained in college. Thank you.

Rahul, this is the best channel i have found on youtube for software engineers! Way better quality content then any of the 1Mil subs youtubers! Would like to request you to make a video on getting promoted at faang too

Do something hard just for the fun of it. Write a tiny operating system for an MCU, implement a RISC-V processor, write an AI implementation, stuff like that...

Since you have mentioned Taro many times in this video, I just want to mention that Taro is an amazing resource , but it's too expensive for students or for unemployed people like me.

Hey! Love your videos! I would really appreciate your advice here. I'm finishing my BSc in Chemical Engineering this semester and I'm looking to transition into IT. I plan on doing an MSc in Engineering Management (and learn coding on my own) or a BProf (Bachelor of Profession) in Computer Science Operational Engineering (basically an easier and shorter Hungarian CS degree that has a one year long internship integrated into it). I'm afraid the BProf degree won't be recognised outside of Hungary so I might as well go for the other degree. On the other hand I'm afraid not having any sort of CS degree would be even worse. I would like to work in either Germany or Austria in the future. What's your take on this? Engineering Management MSc or CS BProf?
@RahulPandeyrkp2 жыл бұрын
I think the degree matters to the extend that it helps you land your first job, and then after that, it increasingly becomes a question of your past work experience. From that perspective, all else being equal, I like the BProf since it has an embedded internship which will count as work experience. The question becomes, how good is that internship? Can you talk to previous students in that degree to ask if they were "real" internships (with significant coding), or they just did menial tasks? The other factor here is how common it is to go from Hungary to Germany/Austria? If it's fairly standard (i.e because your university is well-regarded), I'd actually choose the shorter degree, so you can start your career faster. But if you have doubts about this, I'd go with what gives you more engineering prowess. We also have a few questions from software engineer interns on Taro if you're interested :)

@@RahulPandeyrkp Thank you very much! I will try to get in touch with previous students. I think it's fairly common to move from Hungary to Germany/Austria and the Management degree would be a full year shorter. It would also be a safe choice with my Engineering BSc. There's a job fair coming up at my uni so I will definitely be asking around. I appreciate your help.

I can so relate to this. BTW, isn't it spelled impostor?
@billh13372 жыл бұрын
both spellings are correct. kinda like grey and gray (American vs English)
@RahulPandeyrkp2 жыл бұрын
you scared me, having a misspelling within the content of a video is such a bad feeling
@mojjammil2 жыл бұрын
@@RahulPandeyrkp haha, my bad. Definitely didn't want to kick in impostor syndrome for you on a video about it 😅 Thanks for great content as always. I'll surely share this with many I believe who will benefit from it.
