A 10% growth is optimistic. A 200k salary is optimistic. A 30% savings rate at the beginning of the career is optimistic. I understand the point, but I do think numbers need to be adjusted.

I think his rational is that anyone who can succeed in med school is smart enough to get a 200k salary doing a different job. I also disagree with this point as it’s not that simple and academic intelligence doesn’t necessarily translate to entrepreneurship intelligence. I feel like a more fair comparison would be around a 125k salary for the non doctor. Although looking at the final numbers, it’s possible that this decrease would lead the two people in this scenario to come out to about the same net worth by the age of 65, which in that case the main argument of the video is still relevant

this is literally why I didn't become a doctor to help people, I wanted to open my own practice and I did the math, starting a medical business with $300k in debt is alot worse than $50k in debt. So instead I started a business, it's easier to risk money when you don't have negative 300k.

I have to take issue with some of your assumptions in your model: 1. Being able to save 30% living in NY is unrealistic. 2. The jump in salary to $200K is not average, but would be about in the upper 10%. 3. Most individuals will take the savings that they accumulate and use it as a downpayment on a house/condo by the time that most MDs graduate or out of residency, then you will not have that amount to compound at 10% going forward. 3. Most doctors amass wealth due to being a partner in practice and not just on a salary. That is not taken into consideration in your model and could overcome the compound interest savings of the non-MD with the adjustments that I listed above. I get the point, but I think some of the assumptions on the Mike-MD are very conservative and the non-MD the assumptions are overly optimistic.

In Russia good university cost around 2-3k$ and you are almost garanteed to get there, and you can try to compete for free governmental positions, if you passed exams well enough

Funny. I and a course mate had a similar conversation today. The silver lining in our case is that we don't get into debt chasing the degree. The pay after graduation is shitty tho', you would be comfortable nonetheless... But i don't want just comfort, i want to he richhhhh😂 Thank you for your videos always, I've learned a lot from you🤝

Never! If your passion and drive is large enough, you can definitely do it. Plenty of people transition mid-careers :)

This is incredibly inaccurate, atleast on the financial side. The career and salary progression for doctors is much faster than most regular careers. Therefore assuming the difference in salary would stay at 300k to 200k doesn’t make sense. It should be more like 500k to 250k

Hey doctor! Where I’m from, the tuition fees for almost 30k unreserved ug seats in government medical colleges is almost free. At least you don’t start off your career with a debt after completing your education but the career path is extremely competitive. There is an entrance exam to get in and that’s the only way to get in. In 2024, 2.4Million students appeared for the exam making the selection ratio of 0.0125. It is expected to rise up by another 200k next year. It takes 5.5 years to complete the programme and you can enter it right after high school. A lot of those 30k seats are crap, no lectures, no practicals, the students only study from online resources and pass the board exams. It’s only the top 10k seats that produce great doctors. This means that only about 0.4 percent of all the students who appear for the exam get to become good doctors. I’m from India , the exam is NEET UG and the course im talking about is MBBS. I had appeared for the exam in 2024 and got a rank of 130k something and I’m reappearing for the examination in 2025. It’s hard but I think I have a great chance of making it this year based on my recent mock scores. I follow you since your very early videos on focus, etc and they’ve really helped me in my preparation journey and I want to thank you a lot for them. I follow a lot of your advice like the perfect morning routine and it has really changed my life. The videos are really high quality, keep making them.
