The conclusion of this video constitutes wishful thinking. For example, consider the composition of the US Supreme Court. Eight of the 9 members graduated from Yale Law School or Harvard Law School. Also, consider the educational background of each President/Vice President combination since 1960. In how many of those years was there a President or Vice President who had an Ivy League degree (n.b., usually Yale or Harvard). Also, when the finest companies in the land go to recruit talent, they have target schools where they hire the bulk of their talent. Having been a part of those recruiting drives in a former chapter of my life, I can tell you that your probability of getting to work at Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, Cravath and McKinsey is phenomenally higher if you attended an Ivy League/high prestige school (e.g., Stanford/MIT/Oxford/Cambridge). In short, the most elite consumers of talent want the best and the brightest to join their organizations; and they believe that they will maximize their chances of hiring talent from that class if they focus their recruiting efforts on 1 Yale, 2 Harvard, 3 Princeton, 4 Stanford, 5 MIT, 6 Oxford, and 7 Cambridge. On the whole, if you can get into any of these schools then go, because it will pay dividends throughout your life. If not, go to either another Ivy League school or the most prestigious school you can; and you’ll best position yourself to compete in the white collar job market.

I feel this advice applies primarily to educational or technical material, where the goal is absorbing information or data. Writing is a creative exploration and will enhance and expand your mind but not with this rational and linear and systematic approach but through one engaging their consciousness with material with a spirit of allowing and curiosity. I understand people want things reduced down and given the bones of information. But for fiction or literature to really have life flow through its words, then writing needs colouration, imagery, metaphors, humour, ryhtmnns and these components come from a space of spontaneous imagination that's then edited or sculpted into a final presentation, and it's up to the readers to apply their own imaginations to bring the words and language alive in their own minds. That will expand the power of the mind. These enlivening elements make writing exciting to read as opposed to lifeless dull words stringed together that just relays data. While on the other hand, literature that evokes emotion has a powerful impact on our minds, as emotional events seep into our memories with greater effect, that's been proven many times. Still an interesting and informative video.

Skipping paragraphs isn't reading faster. It's just not reading at all. I think you should only skip parts of it if 1. it's a textbook or non-fiction and 2. if it's something you don't feel comfortable reading such as an inappropriate scene or abuse.

Thanks, I was reading this Stephen King novel Christine, and I noticed the author kept returning to this redundant topic, the 1958 Plymouth Fury. I just started skipping all those paragraphs, which was a lot now that I think about it, but I'm glad I did because I just finished the entire 600-page book in less than an hour, and I basically understand everything about the story. It's just about like this asshole kid named Ron or whatever and he becomes a jerk so Dennis has to kill him or something. Great read, glad I could save myself so much time. Thanks, doc!

i got thrown out of a low level college with less than a 2.0 . then i started working three jobs ( i like to work i didnt have to ). one of the jobs as a security gaurd i ended up asking the guys behind the door they were gaurding what they did, they said programming. so i started teaching myself c++ from a book without a computer. it was a gimmic but one day someone ask me for my resume and boom i was hired to morgan stanley i.t. in 1999 as a programmer. i ended up paying off my house at the age of 39. since then it has doubled in value. im 50 years old now and ive been semi retired for 15 out of the 30 years ive been in the workforce. the point of all our hard work is to make money and to live an easy life. looking back i could have done everything like pay off my house at the age of 28 had i just started everything at the age of 14 and totally skipped college. even high school wasnt worth it. most jobs out here only use an 8th grade education level to complete. its all baloney. dont even go to college. last year i made 200k but sometimes i dont make anything because i just take the savings and sit on it or pay off my house. it helps that you stay married. yeah thats more important than college.. self teaching is #1 especially in the age of google and even more so now with a.i.

I do not understand why people want to wake up and be productive or be super productive throughout the day. Take an Adderall like normal people. First domino, get on floor to get alarm clock , fall back to sleep while lying on the floor. Wake up 2 hours later unable to walk because my back has spasmed. Crawl to kitchen for water and pain medicine. Go back to sleep on kitchen floor. wake up, I can stand well enough to walk back to bed. take adderall, go back to sleep. wake up 30 min later felling good and ready to get shit done. Play video games allday . repeat till you are homeless. live life like a vagabond. Get food stamps, steal a tent from Wal-mart do not worry . if you get caught BOUNUS 3 MEALS AND A COT. GET OUT OF JAIL. Go to an organization the jail said would help me. The organization can not help me because they are full and do not have the money. Start drinking, drink untill your kidneys fail and you have an out of body experience. Realize there is an after life and this life is not real. Start meditating 30 min every morning. weird stuff starts happening . Synchronicities start occurring and you are receiving downloads of information that is freaking you out. You will start to understand what your pets are trying to tell you. then you will understand all animals. Eat a 6 gram bag of psylocibin mushrooms. Start hearing voices coming from lightbulbs telling you they are aliens connecting with you through you subconscious. Start manifesting food, shelter. live a happy life knowing you are no longer caught in the rat race. True story He he Much love everyone. Time to wake up people. We are much more than you realize 📿📿📿 Na-nu Na-nu 🖖🏼

Love all your study references!!! And WOW @4:38 - That's fascinating, and as someone who's been struggling with depression recently, I can kind of understand that from personal experience. I am cold-blooded and ABHOR the cold; however when I have done cold water exposure (specifically thinking of a cold shower at a sauna where a bucket filled up over your head and you pulled the bucket to dump on you), I DO actually remember breaking out in laughter after the dump! It was such a strange reaction, but I didn't think anything of it. I think maybe my one thought was how 'ridiculous' (in a positive way) dumping a big bucket of cold water on my head was. Suffice it to say, I dumped many more buckets on my head that day! 😆But WOW, this theory is interesting and I will be trying to find the study that theorizes this connection!

Our bodies are supposed to be up with the sun and down in the darkness? Well... it is impossible. There is almost no sun in the winter and there is no ligjt before 8am and I have to be at work at 7 ehich means I have to get up at 5.30 while feeling it is midnight 🙈🙈 also, it is already dark at 4pm and I start to be extremely sleepy whrn it gets dark. I would love it if I could go to sleep at 4pm and wake up at 8. Maybe I eould fibally have enough sleep.. but it is not possible in this world.. so what else have you got? I'll continue watching 😁

I do not know the feeling of waking up and have energy. I'm 38 and I have never in my life experienced waking up an feeling fresh and ready to tackle the day ahead. 8 hours of sleep is not enough for me and every single night something or someone wakes me up and I am unabke to fall back to sleep for an hour or two. And sometimes it happens multiple times per night. But even years ago when I did not wake up during the night, I was never fresh in the morning. Honestly, I do not know the feeling of beeing full of energy. I am tired from the moment I wake up till the moment I go to sleep. I even stopped drinking coffee after seeing so many videos on youtube of people saying that once they stopped drinking coffer their enerfy went up through the roof.. I have not had this experience. I have to wake up at 5.30 to to work, but I snooze my alarm until 6.30 and I am late every day. Now during the holidays I sleep until 8 or 9 or whatever and I am still tired and sleepy all day. I guess the shitty weather contributes to it as well.. I remember that I went to the gym twice a week for about a month when I was in my 20s and after walking quickly on a treadmill for 10min I felt full of energy for the following hours. Never experienced that energy ever again
