I actually love how this technique focuses on hip escaping rather than climbing UP to the back. The climb up is always what I struggle with when trying to take the back from closed guard. Thank you for posting!

@@manofsteal537Gracie climbs the legs incrementally to the back while other person stays in turtle, very different from hipping out until they fall. Will try both variations, but assuming there is a reason Roger doesn't just hip out

What exactly is fundamental with it? And why is it refreshing?
@HelwigDorsuo
@HelwigDorsuo 3 жыл бұрын
@@ScolopaxJJ as a BJJ instructor, I would answer by saying its a 4 point sequence that doesnt require unusual speed or flexibility to achieve. It relies on connection, timing and sensitivity to achieve. Its refreshing because people these days tend to gravitate to the newest and flashiest options that are often different just for the sake of being different.

@TheDomLouis

At 7:55 he has control of the opponent's right sleeve and the control of the newly held lapel under the armpit. That means he controls the whole upper torso, making it hard (not impossible) to jump over. Also the right foot is there, up, on the hip which means to jump over, due to the upper body control and slight twist, you could only really post properly with your head. Best way to find out is to try it with a friend 🙂 From mechanics perspective I think it makes sense to me. I'll try it out tonight during my BJJ class.
