I know the reviewer said it took her 10 episodes to finally see the sparks of chemistry between the two main male leads, but not me. I saw it as soon as Wuxian laid his eyes on Wangji 16 years after his death and resurrection.

omg exactly. in the beginning with the death scene and then when he resurrected you can SEE his affection for Lan Wanji in Mo village. And then in the flashback i think is understandable that they don’t have that since they’ve just met.

I am trying to recall my impression of the first 2 episodes... the issue is that I have not read the novel earlier, so at the beginning I had no idea that it based on BL story. But I agree that it was already seen that WWX has some... at least 'friendly' feelings in the first episode, when he was so keen to avoid meeting with LWJ but still looked at him appearing with some sympathy / warm expression in his eyes. And this intense stare when they met in ep 2. Mind it... I did not know at the time that it is a BL story. I did not know about this story too much at the beginning at all. I did not read the novel earlier. And still I felt that there is something only watching ep 1 and 2. I agree that after that ep 3-11 were kind of boring but at the same time they were very peaceful. And I really enjoyed them, since I expected that drama will speed up sooner or later, because ep 1 and 2 indicated that something dramatic happened in their past. And I really was afraid to know what it was. So it is when you watch the drama fresh, without knowing upfront what is the real story behind.

@@suravibera2147 I was in the same situation! That look in ep2, omg!!! It tells everything without saying anything! And that is great acting right there, even if they had had no training or experience (actually, Xiao Zhan DID have experience like we see now with the Wolf, which was filmed prior to the Untamed, but it was not widely known yet...) So yah, I think the reviewer may have forgotten about those 2 episodes in "present time" and based her judgement a bit too much on expectations rather than seeing what was in front of her eyes. Ofc they didn't have much chemistry yet in the "past", they were 15 and learning to know each others... And since I actually watched the "final review" prior to this one, it is pretty funny to see her huge change of opinion, like the one of so many ppl apparently!

As a foreigner, I watched my very first Chinese drama, The Untamed, a year after its release. Not knowing anything about the story (never heard of bl) except for the synopsis on Viki, I was impressed by the drama and the actors and especially their undeniable chemistry. I did searches on the story, the actors and bts, I was surprised that a drama already a year old still kept the audience interest. From the first episode, I was impressed by Wang Yibo's performance. Having to convey an emotion with little dialogue or expression is very difficult. He did so well. Most actors in the west do not get formal training, it just comes naturally. The screen writers did an excellent job of adapting the story to stay close to the original but able to bypass the strict Chinese censorship. I'm glad everyone associated with The Untamed got the deserved recognition. A year on and it's still going strong.

I was in a very similar situation, I stumble on my daughter watching THE episode right before his death with her earphones on, so I only read the subtitles for a few sentences and observed the emotions on Xiao Zhan face, then his interaction with Wang Yibo and I was totally hooked! I asked her what was that, and decided to tackle it. She never told me it was based on a BL novel (I didn't even know what that was...), yet just from all those subtle-not-so-subtle hints, I suddenly told her "Wait, those 2 are not friends, they're lovers!!!" And she giggled, just telling me to read the novel... And when I did, wow those actors just nailed their characters soooooooooo well!!!

Did not know anything about the story before just watching it one night. I truly relate to Wang Yibo's read of his character. I thought he expressed exactly what was correct for that relationship. Sometimes a little knowledge (or a lot) is limiting, and ignorance is bliss. I'm on my fifth time through. Somehow I missed a couple scenes. I usually am doing some knitting at the same time, and since I need subtitles, I miss out. Oh goody, new stuff every run-through!

LWJ is *supposed* to be completely expressionless and WWX is *supposed* to be outrageously over the top. It's *exactly* how they're described in the novel, manhua and donghua! If anything, Wang Yinbao over-expresses in the live action. 😂

Fortunately, none of her fears came true. 50 episodes were not too many. And in fact felt perfect to fully tie up the entire story (without needing any fast forwarding on the part of the viewers). Also, it not only stuck to the original source material. In my opinion, it transcended WangXian to level above the novel in fact. Finally, it went on to become the biggest hit Chinese drama land has seen in recent years. And even two years down the line also, people continue to love this drama!

If Lan Zhang is totally expressionless it matches the novel really well. Wei Ying has to actually listen to his heartbeat to tell when he is feeling strong emotions. Wei Ying is over the top goofy in the novel as well. A total trickster god.

It's honestly a really thankless job to be the straight man...it's usually a boring role to begin with, and LWJ as a character in their past interactions doesn't have the history that, say, Shen Wei did with Zhao Yunlan in Guardian, to make it more dynamic. The fact that the LWJ actor isn't as experienced as a true talent like Zhu Yilong doesn't help too, but after watching Wang Yibo play LWJ for 10 eps, I'm starting to appreciate the little breaks in his stoicism more. The almost smiles and slight expressions feels more earned.

Just finished the drama. Compared to first 10 episodes, last 16-17 episodes are just excellent. I don't know if it is because they became close friends and genuinely are invested in the story, but Yibo strangely suited Wangji. I can't believe I am saying it because I had a certain image of Lan Zhan. But now weirdly whenever I think of the character, Yibo's face is in my mind. He plays the stoic but protective, warm towards the 2 people he cares about, extremely well. The small smiles here and there also helps.

I didn't know anything about the novel or donghua, so I didn't have the image of anything. Then when I read the novel, the description of LWJ was different, but Yibo was already in my mind as LWJ, so throughout the whole novel, it was only Yibo's face.

And Lan Zhan, he was supposed to be wooden, in the novel, Lan Zhan is the kind of person who doesnt have any expression, only his brother can understand his expression, Wei Wuxian also said in the novel that they look like they were in mourning. If you read the novel and watched the next few episodes, you'll know that he actually has an expression, he grew up under strict environment, no one ever taught him to play or joke around with him until wwx enter his life

imo the actors for both WWX and LWJ portrayed their characters perfectly, it's true to their personalities as shown in the novel, manga, and anime. the comment on how you think the actor for WWX was a bit "over the top/trying too hard" was also a bit ehhh to me because I personally thought he was doing a fantastic job at staying true to character. (im also the type to cringe easily but that didn't really happen) ps: i want to mention something regarding how it wasnt until the more recent episodes that ppl were able to start seeing how much the main leads care about each other. im not sure how well the novel portrayed it (and the manga hasnt updated to that point yet) but as far as i can tell, the moment where we the audience realize that wwx and lwj genuinely care about each other *in the anime* is also the same scene as shown in the drama : )

star星蔚 that’s absolutely true, since I read the novel - you actually can tell when LanZhan finally realized his feeling for WeiYing was in the cave with the song, “WangXian”. Since it is their flashback to how they were, his feeling for WeiYing from audiences perspective was during their cave scene. The novel was written during their present time then flashback so it was easier to tell how LanZhan felt towards WeiYing in present time due to the fact he was showing it more. Flashback it was just beginning his feeling so a lot was hidden until the cave scene. I hope everyone continues to support and praying for it to aired without any issues or being blocked from the gov’t is all I can asked for as a fan.

....but...but...that's how it's supposed to be! Wei Ying IS overly active and Lan Zhan IS a total non-expression and it IS only later on that their relationship develops and the emotions start to truly show! The're following novel to the dot and I absolutely love it! It's so rare to see a novel adaptation to tv that truly embraces it's origin and follows it! Especially since in China it's extra difficult to achieve with all the bans and censorship.

He's not wooden. Early in the story for actually a good portion of when they are at Cloud Recesses, he is actually expressionless and cold. He's described exactly how he's portrayed on screen. The actor is doing what he's supposed to. It's not until when the event happens when it does that the relationship actually changes. I feel as though people aren't reading the web novel well enough. He's not a Shen Wei here. Shen Wei is cold but also in love. This guy is described as aloof and can't connect, unlike his brother.

Exactly. I mean, who can forget the first few novel descriptions of him, told from Wei WuXian's perspective no less - "face bitter like his wife just died" and "bitter and cold" etc. I kind of get where the reviewer is coming from because I do remember a few points in the first few episodes, I thought Wang YiBo almost looked sleepy. But I think it actually works pretty well because this is when he's supposed to be 16 and extra distant from everyone, to the point that only his brother can even read him.

4:40 i have to interject. LWJ is not supposed to be a cold character. (Do tue how he grew up, alway on point with every single rule, he is just really inflexible and doesn't even know how to "act his age" or anything like that. Hard to explain tho c.c read the novel! XD) 5:47 well it would be bad if they had that "look" right from the beginning? they show the developement here. Tho they changed a lot chronologaly/plot wise even. I've seen the animation first, then went onto reading the novel (even tho i usually don't read..) and then went onto listening to the audio drama and also read the manhua, so I am actually a huge fangirl. So even tho untamed has a totally different name and the plot is even different (mashed weirdly?) I still love it very much. Because I love the characters so much (all of them not only the leads), as long as they don't go OOC it will be awsome no matter the version 11:10 I don't think it follows REALLY closely? at least up to now. 14:00 so if they don't omit like everything, if you skip fast forward, you will miss a lot of details. Pretty much all details in the beginning/flashbacks are relevant later on. And wtf is all of this about with all those censorships! I've already cried rivers ab out man danmei novels! and xianxia and so on is basically my fav genre for dramas, so this get smacked by the goverement as well? gg D:

I agree with your comments. The actor playing Lan Wangji hits the right notes for the character. While the main leads are not veteran actors, they do a job good enough to depict the buildup of the relationship in line with the original material. I believe we get earlier many more Wei Ying/Lan Wanji moments (they never had the roadtrip to find the Yin Iron pieces) to make up for the fact there wont be explicit love scenes to avoid running into censorship. The romance will be acknowledged almost entirely in the subtext (I mean, in episode 6, both of them bowing in front of Lan Yi bound at the wrists by the forehead ribbon!). They did not stick to the novel plotline but the new one is actually as good and allows for the secondary characters to shine. I thought the team did an excellent job of laying the background material driving the action. I would not skip the first 10 episodes because even for people familiar with the novel, with new elements like the Stygian metal, the apparition of the characters of the Yi city arc much sooner, the story wont make sense anymore.

Wangji is actually supposed to be like how Yibo plays him. No one can read him(except his brother), he is super expressionless but I do agree, in a live action, Yibo should dial up a little. I didn't expect too much from MDZS drama after enjoying the novel, manhua, radio drama and donghua. Especially since MDZS donghua season 1 limited wangxian chemistry a lot, in my opinion. But surprisingly, the drama has shown a lot of ambigous, subtle also not-so-subtle chemistry and sparks between the two leads. How on earth did they pass that infamous censorship lol?? Now I am just worried about bad ending (just because it's originally BL gosh!) and the potential banning.

Was hoping you'd review this show, thanks, Ms. AvenueX! I actually got into MDZS because I started watching The Untamed. The problems the show has reminds me a lot of Guardian (bad CGI, pacing and editing issues), but ofc The Untamed has more positives going for it in terms of production since it seems it has a bigger budget, as seen in the costumes, set designs and even the casting of better supporting/background actors. I love the music, esp the end credits duet. As for the leads, I actually really like Xiao Zhan as Wei Wuxian, I think he's adorable. I agree about Wang Yibo's Lan Zhan at first, but he's starting to grow on me. They are no Bai Yu and Zhu Yilong ofc...who can compare to them, really...but I was drawn in by their performances enough to be able to enjoy them and the show. I am really worried about the show's future too: I hope censorship or stupidity doesn't screw up the ending like they did to Guardian or get it canceled completely. Hopefully we will be able to see a second review video from you about the show once it ends, and it's a resoundingly positive one at that cuz things don't get messed up.

I am a HUGE fangirl of this show and to tell you the truth, when i started episode 1 I did get bored but in my spare time that same day, i watched out the first episode and continued doing so slowly falling in love with it as it went along. I don't see why many people don't want to start off with the huge detailing of how the story played off. yes it is different from the anime and novel etc. but this show also shows the extreme points that would have probably been there but was not shown and you get to see a whole other side of the story. Lan Zhan is obvly. a cold character but indeed it doesn't mean he doesn't care. He was perceived to care for his family and his family values and that didn't mean he had to show emotion plus if you think about it, why show emotion he thought nothing could really harm them and he only shows emotion when someone does harm a love one. eg wei waxian. I DO NOT recommend skipping at least one episode because you can actually miss some important info. IF anyone watches anime, if you've watched attack on titan the beginning also wasn't all that but now even in the manga it is blowing up. this is a perfect example of this show's capability.

7:58 I find this really ironic 😂 CQL is really one of those super rare gems. Seeing now that it has amassed a global following and is considered one of the best c-drama in history. When I first watched this video 1-1/2 years ago, I was really surprised about the points made. From episode 4 onwards, I was hooked on every second. I grew up on c-dramas, CQL is very different from all of them. A lot of people could relate to the characters, which are *very* well written. I really hope the drama airs in its entirety, I'm loving it! Yes, it has its flaws but I'm willing to turn a blind eye to a lot for my love of the source material. I don't think it's sticking that closely to the original (apart from the main relationships), there already have been a few major changes in the plot, which may seriously influence the direction of the story, but I guess I'll have to see - I'm only up to episode 6 (English subbed). Thank you for reviewing it, I hope the drama keeps improving and surprising you (and me!).

Well maybe in your point of view the first up to 10th episode is boring but for me ....I was actually hooked up in the first episode and it's getting interesting every time you watched the next part especially if it's English sub.The more you want to know what's next and what really happens to the lead actor why!?????? They want him dead and what he do wrong that many people hate him at the same time some do like him especially his works (invention ).

I'm engrossed with this drama right now. Considering this is probably both of these actors' first leading roles, they are doing quite well in my opinion. The wrist grab scene in episode 2 was actually what captured my attention and made me look up the web novel and the drama details. Their affection for each other pulls me towards this work the same way Bai Qian and Ye Hua's love made me love TMOPB. I will say that I'm afraid to love this drama since the fear of them pulling it from the air is so real.

Interesting. I had the opposite opinion of the first 10 episodes. I found the two leads quite engaging. Also I was surprised they did manage to sneak not simply Wei’s reaction to Lan in the second episode (the touching after playing the flute) in but later on in the hall when Wei Xian was copying all those texts and sneaked that one page into Lan Zan’s book I had to pause it because I wasn’t sure, but I had suspected that what they had shown was actually gay erotic imagery. And it was. It was definitely two guys in a standing spooning position. No idea whether it was drawn for the show but it does have some similarity to that picture of the two men having sex and the female voyeur that you can find on Wikipedia and the like. Granted, I do not know the story, nor have I seen Guardian or speak the language so my perspective is probably different.

Hi, AvenueX, thumbs up for your reviews. I watched a few of them today on different shows and subscribed immediately. Really good job. I watched this review after the final review and it really made me smile. Love how you changed your opinion and expressed it in such a humorous way. Really thumbs up :-) I´m certainly going to check your other videos too. I´m just going to put my first impression here. When I first saw that drama as a suggestion on Netflix I was pushing it away for at least a month or two, as something to watch later when I have nothing else more interesting to watch. I was more into romantic stuff (how was I supposed to know that it will be the best romance I saw till now?). I had no idea what that drama is about (except for a couple of sentences regarding the content on Netflix), no idea about its background, actors, novel, anything, everything was blank for me, so when I finally started to watch it I had absolutely no expectations whatsoever. As a matter of fact, I just saw it as something to pass time. When I saw the first few scenes I was like WTH. I saw WWX who was supposed to be almost a demon crying in desperation, watching the scene in front of him. Villains don´t usually have such emotions. My first thought: what happened??? Another scene: his fall. Lan Zhan catching his hand trying so hard to hold him. It was so obvious that Lan Zhan is a positive character, how can he be so desperate to save a villain and why is that villain so happy to see him - I could feel that there is some bond and, of course, that the one falling off the cliff is not such villain at all. What happened??? I was hooked immediately even with just those scenes - I wanted to learn the story behind it. I was almost pushed away by the first 2 episodes though, I was confused about what it is about, nothing explained until the scene when Lan Zhan caught his hand. That scene made me feel that there is much more of a story there and made me continue. My goodness, now I am so grateful. I didn´t mind at all slower pacing during the first part of the show, I just enjoyed their happy days in Lotus Pier and Cloud Recesses and all the fun of that time. Probably because, as I said, I had no expectations and just went with the flow. I just cringe my teeth over the monsters (especially that dog in a dungeon - rolling my eyes like Jiang Cheng) and such technical things - this show deserved so much better. Lan Zhan´s stiffness didn´t put me off, just the opposite. You see the interaction between the two in the first moments of the first episode (completely different) and you are just curious how it changed. I even loved that contrast between them, two opposite natures who become so close they almost can read each other´s minds (at the later part of the show). I think that from the beginning to end they did a perfect job, made me feel them, laugh with them, cry with them, yearn with them (even LWJ lol). After watching it I felt so disappointed that they part their ways at the end. I totally didn´t get the end. I wanted to watch the show again but didn´t dare - simply because I didn´t want to see the finish. After a long time, I read the explanation of the end and also found out that there is even a novel. What to say, till now I watched the whole show (no skipping) 5x, read the novel in between, watched anime, BTS and read and watch anything related to The Untamed. This comes from someone who rarely watches a movie or even a show twice. If it happens it is usually after a long time when I almost forgot what it was about. Not to mention to read a novel because of some series - it would never come to my mind. I usually say: It was beautiful, let's watch something else. Not this time. As a matter of fact, I would say this story is like wine, the second time watching is even better than the first time. Made me question myself and the world on so many levels, mob mentality, self-righteousness, acceptance of grey, like Lan Zhan while receiving his punishment: "I dare ask uncle, who's right and who's wrong? Who's black? Who's white?" Now I can´t move on for real, because every other show seems empty. Yes, it can be super beautiful visually but it´s just not enough anymore. For me, it's a gem that took my heart and touched it in all the right places and in different ways. Too often we watch something that is just superficial splendor of effects with almost none or simply none message and we praise it. This doesn't have that splendor but even so, it takes nothing of the beauty of the story and the message This drama really, though not flawless on the surface, took my heart, filled it, crushed it, melted it, changed it, and left me asking for more... I´m sorry, such a long comment lol. I guess I have the same suppressed feelings towards this drama as Lan Zhan towards Wei Ying :-D Nobody to talk about it since no one around me is into fantasy dramas so they didn´t watch it lol

I agree with everything you said in the video. As the drama continued, the actors got better in my opinion and their chemistry is growing and deeper each expisode. I do feel like they do know their characters and since they are very complex characters, it took them a while to balance the actions and emotions. I am very worried that it will be banned since in the more recent episodes you can tell WWX and LWJ's bond is growing. I REALLY hope we can see the entire drama and I hope it will not be banned. The actors and crew are working hard so it would be very unfortunate >.< Please please please do another update once the drama comes out more or once it ends and yes I really hope it will be good news as well hehe. You would be surprised how more BL-ish this feels compared to the novel. I'm an English speaker so I'm on episode 6 till Wednesday. But it's not only the mains going of with 'that' vibe. For me the drama is passing so damn fast, probably because I'm a novel reader. But I can imagine how painfully slow the first few episodes could be for someone who's watching it for the first time. But I think the characters are holding the new 'extra' bits well, since they are really 3-dimensional and work good. The novel was rather fast paced, every corner had something. There were barely any filler moments till perhaps the very end. Seeing how Wei Ying bonds with his friends is so sweet to watch. Happy Wei Ying is the best Wei Ying

I would actually disagree a little about the acting. Obviously I have no experience in film school or anything, but just going by emotional response, I received the acting here a lot better than I did in Guardian. I cringe really easily from watching C-Drama since it can get really campy, but I didn't really feel any of that here (except in the first few episodes maybe). Basically what I'm trying to say is that the acting in Untamed appeals to me a lot more than the acting in some other dramas that have arguably more experienced actors. Anyway this is just how I feel so yeah that's my cold take I guess
@newname3718

Still think bianjiang played the best LWJ. LWJ is not cold, he was just doing what he was taught "right". Hard to describe, didn't feel much for bianjiang's yehua, but his LWJ I was like oohh so this was what people talking about him being VERY GOOD in voice acting. The WWX actor for the drama was trying but no quite there. Gdc has very well developed characters which will definitely test the actors acting skills. Since Chinese drama industry got too used to "brainless auto pilot mode" and tend to act with a pre-packaged actions for each type of character. The thing is well developed character grows throughout the story, it's not going to be the same from ep1 to last. I could sort of see the actors are trying to break free of the usual step by step dummy acting but yea still seeing traces of it. Things were off in the first few episodes, my mum watched it and I cringed when I peeked over her shoulder. 😂😂😂 Really hope it would get better, really hope they can respect the original plot and let wenqing die like she was supposed to.

I never thought I'd watch a BL anime, but I gobbled that up like hot cakes. It was SO good, imo. So when I heard about the drama, I was like 'whatever, I can afford to be disapointed if they slaughter it, at least there's still the anime to look forward to.' mentality. Surprisingly, 4 eps in, it already looks very promising. I haven't read the book, it's not really my cup of tea, so maybe I will just continue watching the drama and anime. The anime and drama both seem to be respectfully dealing with the source material, even though I never read the novel, you can feel they're not trying to do whatever the hell they want like so many drama productions of IPs (also haven't read all those original materials also). It's always good to see dramas treated fairly and not as garbage. 良心制作should honestly be a standard, not an exception, but sadly that's just not how things are.

I need this!! been waiting for your review, because I very much love the novel and donghua!💕💕💕💕 okay, now I'm little worried about this drama survival according to your information...because I planned to wait until all the episode is airing to watch it... I have this perfect scene in my head when reading the novel and it execute beautifully in the Donghua, even when they changed the time line ( so people get to know the back story of Wei ying and Lan zhan first ) I know its difficult to translate the feeling of one stoic characters like Lan Zhan, because I think for this type of character the actor needs a certain gesture that could convey his feelings behind the stoic facade, because if you read the novel Lan Zhan actually harbour a very very very deep feeling for Wei wuxian, his action do the talk, hence the gesture have to be prominent. I really have high expectation on this drama, and after watching your review I just hope it is a decent one compared to the donghua and do justice to the novel. And now..fearing about this drama survival..I guess I have to hold my breath and watched it before they take it down...

So, I keep my expectations super low when I started watching the live action and I was pleasantly surprise. Sure, they made changes here and there, the cg/editing could be better, but it was pretty entertaining at the very least. Many also commented on twitter that things started getting good around the episode 10,11 mark, so I'm gonna speed up lol I am hoping it won't be cancelled/sabotaged tho, knowing how scrutinized it is. Many were concerned after the official video of the main couple's 'love song' that tencent uploaded in their own freaking youtube channel was taken down. Trivial Things that i think made me love this drama: - XIAO ZHAN BREATHING ON IT - CHEMISTRY especially between yizhan in drama or bts - expressionless wang yibo - yizhan gazing at each other in drama or bts - basically I’m a yizhan stan so anything about them makes me scream - originally i found it on BL list and i went well a historical bl and chinese too let’s dive in out of curiosity not thinking at all that it might take over my whole life and soul - i was like omg two hot guys finally pls collide and every episode I’m hoping some love interaction will happen and that’s what got me to the end of all episodes waiting for some little lovey dovey between those hot mf - i love a relationship where one is cold and thick as lan zhan and the other is lively and not strict as wei wuxian my FAVORITE - i love pain - i love visuals and this drama is a bomb of visuals and good actors too - i love bts and there’s lots of this drama and made me my dream come true where yizhan have their moments and I’m extremely happy - i love how wwx sacrifices and gets nothing in return and actually treated like garbage it made me go on with dear life which there would be a lot of shit no matter how good person you’re - i love superpower and the fact that with a flute u could wipe up ppl and haters and do crazy things I’m so energized mentally and physically when seeing these stuff - i love xiao zhan’s talent of bringing all these different emotions into screen and he’s my first c-boy i stan i never was interested in Chinese culture but he grabbed my soul and i even started to speak some mandarin lol (love the language and grateful this drama changed my view) - that no drama ever will compare to untamed bc of yizhan not anything else but if there ever would be a drama with yizhan on it then i might compare it to untamed because they made this drama SUCCESSFUL - i love the genuine relationship between yizhan and how they care for each other and fight a side with each other and defend each other wether in drama or bts - i love how it made me feel love without a love scene made me feel every emotion without even trying to put any effort and that’s basically yizhan playing their roles as best as perfection - i would continue if i didn’t have a final i studied and revised but i still need to revise more and more so i get a full grade and marry xiao zhan or at least marks him be proud of me lol i would do it anyway ❤

I agree that their acting might need improvement. But they getting better each episode. The first episode I can see the awkwardness in their acting. Guardian though, the acting is soooooooo spot on that I feel in the love in the first episode. So I do agree your opinion.

Totally agree with your first impression. One of my friends thought I might get crazy for it for my crazy behaviors last summer, but I actually didn't see any chemistry between them. Though it's obvious that they have enough money to make the episodes fully done, the whole stuff is just telling a storyline. Most actors are relatively young and there's a lot of space for improvements in acting. Things get a little better when they are in the cave but I still thought their reactions are not so intuitive and still lacking. In general, there's nothing too bad but also nothing very impressive. I'm still expecting improvements in the rest episodes. (And glad to see SW is still at the end of your video)

It also took me more than ten episodes to adjust to this drama, I guess the two main actors were still trying to find a proper way to portray their characters. Totally agree with your commentary.

I am really nervous about this drama being taken down. Luckily I live in the us so if it's taken down on Chinese websites I can probably still watch it one KZbin. I really must say in terms of acting I think the actors portrayed the characters decently and stayed pretty true to the novel. I personally think for a c drama and idol drama it was pretty well done and even though LAN Zhan seems like very wooden I think given the amount of lines and understanding of his character he did pretty good. Als9 the chemistry really does take off so even though the first episorres are a bit slow in development it does become much better and you do become more invested in their characters and relationship. I hope the China chills a bit cause with them being so strict it shuts off a major source of revenue for them cause they are suppressing so many good story's, acting, drama, etc, and overall topics many people around the world are invested and interested in

I feel like the sabotaging basically started in the beginning since it’s starting ranking was a 4.8 on China’s version of rotten tomato. It might not be the best show but I don’t think it deserved a 4.8 compared to the other dramas I’ve seen with that low of a ranking. The ranking finally crawled up to 6.0 today. Hopefully the show can finish airing before they decide to take it down.

Honestly, I'm more invested in the relationship between the brothers Wei Wu Xian and Jiang Cheng.

Just funny because the untamed is my first bromance c-drama and I loved it every single episodes, but when I watched Guardian, it gives me a nahhhh impression for the first 10 episodes. lol total opposite with this one. I think it depends on which drama you first watched which established your standard for the upcoming dramas you'll watch.
