Interestingly, he's right, he doesn't fit in with the bands in the U.S at the time, but he is very similar to the bands in Australia at the time. I think it's cool and interesting that Thirsty Merc - Summer time came out at the same time. He also sounds quite a lot by powderfinger.

I have loved Gavin DeGraw from the very beginning!! From a teenager to 32 years old I’m still a fan! He is unique and I’m blown away every time I listen to his voice :)

Same. I’m 31 and I remember jamming out to the Chariot album with my sister, while she was taking me and my brother to school. One of the first part time jobs I got as a teenager was at a local grocery story and I would get so pumped when they started playing Chariot on the speakers. Miss them old days, proud to be a Millennial lol.

I grow up listening to this song but didn’t know the full meaning too it until I was grown I know just reading the lyrics it should be clear as day but to a kids that didn’t know fully what I was doing in life it didn’t click fully until now but this was one of my favorite songs but now I know why

I think his lyrics are not just about him, it’s deeper, it is a representation of our generation (mostly gen x and a bit of xennial), it was deeply rooted in our generation where at the time it was all about authenticity and the importance of knowing who each of us individual was, what were our strength and weaknesses, what were our gifts and talents. All about being real, staying real, true to yourself, solid and mature. Keeping your feet on the ground. While the next generations tend to just follow. Anyone can be models, anyone can be actors (as long as you’re willing to go nude).
