The story of JT and his dad’s relationship really made me sad and upset like I get tough love and all but just feel like his dad was never really there for JT except when it came to basketball. Probably explains why JT brings Deuce everywhere with him and spends time every chance he gets with him. His mom is the real hero in his journey.
@Geneknowshoops

Yes JT speaks on how he wants to be the dad for Deuce that he always wanted. I didn’t include it in the doc but he definitely wants Deuce to have the childhood he wanted

I like how he says “besides my son being born” when talking ab the best moment of his life. Acknowledging his son like that made me feel a point where him and his fathers relationship had gone full circle , I just think he wants the best for his son just because of the lack of affection his father had for him. And that’s just beautiful that he really wants the healthiest relationship w his son

Idc if what Tatum's dad did "helped", not being there for your son like that is so shitty. His mom is the real hero for believing in him, and so is Tatum for battling through that adversity to make it where he is now. Great documentary bro, I always thought of Tatum of being an AAU type guy so this really gave me another view of him. Glad to see a fellow small NBA KZbinr put in the work to make a great video, you love to see it ❤️

Great documentary on Tatum. It's honestly a privilege to have a class act like that on the hometown team. He is so down-to-earth and laid back, yet underneath the will to win burns, fired by his dedicated mom, and yes, his dad. It was so touching to see Tatum tear up when he talked about his relationship with his father. Tough love is a double-edged sword, though. I would not treat my kid like that.

Loved the documentary. I was a huge Celtics fan in high school (rondo was my fav player). When I was in college starting in 2014, I didn’t keep up as much with basketball because I didn’t have time. This was a great summary of Tatum’s first few years on the team as I didn’t pay attention as much then, so this was a great recap and very helpful. Man, Tatum really deserves the ring this year! The whole team does! I love their chemistry. Tatum talking about his dad made me tear up

Jason you are such a wonderful young man and l can see your pain is deep. It seems like while your mother was growing you to be a man with strong values your dad's only focus was building a man with net worth. You be a great dad to your son so he will have a good blueprint to follow. Your mom is the best and so is her son.

I really don’t like how his father treated him. Tough love can be important in raising a child but I feel like his mom’s version of tough love was much better & more impactful. I’m glad that he took that energy & turned into something positive for himself. It also seems that he’s taking the opposite approach with raising his son! He’s just gonna keep getting better! I hope he has a great,long lasting & healthy NBA career.

Real Talk... I use to volunteer at an elementary school's career day program for years. When kids would say what they would like to be, I would never tell them they couldn't be or do something. However, I would ask them what's their A-Plan, B-Plan and C-Plan. Meaning that whether they succeeded at playing ball or something to that nature, there is life after it's over. Also, if along the journey they decided to pivot in another direction, they would have a plan already in place. By the way, I saw Tatum's teammate Jaylen Brown play in high school and it was evident he was heading to the NBA. Keep Dreaming !!!

N.b.a finals.. they would have been up...3 games to 1..n I think! Golden state.. would have been done.. We were controlling them in game 4..had a 6 point lead at home. Just way to many turnovers. we gave the warriors. Wayyyyy. To many second n third chances at the basket..n against a very..talented..n championship tested squad..it just wasn't enough..we had the championship.right in the palms 🌴 of our hands.
