The Untold Story Of The Richest Man In History: Mansa Musa
Mansa Musa, former King of the Mali Empire, is the richest person of all time - so rich that the amount of gold he gave out when he was passing through Cairo plummeted the price of gold in the territory, essentially wrecking the economy for ten whole years. Experts have often described the amount of his wealth as unquantifiable because his possessions were so breathtaking that we may never be able to comprehend its true vastness. Who really was Mansa Musa? How did he acquire his insane wealth?

Important to note the period and the existence of slavery, perhaps you could do a segment on the history of slavery and correct the modern day myths on slavery. Just one other item I noticed you mentioned he made his wealth from gold, ivory and salt, this is correct but not complete, you forgot to mention one other commodity, slavery

Exactly! I was arguing with someone the other day about another slave movie being created. How sick and tired I am of seeing us in such a bad light constantly. Brainwashing us to believe we are nothing more then merely slaves and animals in all of history. I want to see a 3 hour long movie about Mansa Musa , Chaka Zulu and more . Hell I want a series like the Tudor about African Kings and Queens. I wanna shed s tear of happiness and joy not sadness and disgusting.

"Our"?? A king is far less than 1 percent of the people. But the one we always, foolishly, try to claim and identify with. Now if you say: greed of those in power.., that would be more relatable. Yet, Musa was extremely generous, just to the wrong people... While when we criticize greed and say "our biggest problem".., we conveniently leave out the centuries of greedy invaders that continue to this day.., while most our people, in America and Africa, are peasants that have no clue, and little excess to resources to make a difference if they did. For the record: Our biggest downfall is, that we have always been a generous,loving and forgiving people, to a fault... We need to learn the healthy side of greed and selfishness. Learn to keep our own company so to keep our own companies... And realize that no words are one-sided... As there is a time and place for all things.

Yeah really surprise me looking at African history and European history between the 13th and 14th century. Always been told Africans were just savages and lived in mud huts. While at this time in Europe, people were starving and were very unhygienic including kings and queens unable to bath or keep their themselves clean. The lack of hygiene meant that Europeans stunk and carried many diseases.

@GuardianShad Жыл бұрын
This isn't exactly true, since unfortunately, it isn't quite how our economic system work. Gold is no longer money. In our fiat system, *debt* is money, and the most powerful people are are those allowed to make it out of nothing.
@R3RATED
@R3RATED Жыл бұрын

@GuardianShad
@GuardianShad Жыл бұрын
@@R3RATED Well, no, because that's not how gold works. There's a finite amount of gold on the pkanet, which is where gold derives its value from - scarcity. Simply supply & demand. If Mansa Musa was to somehow be revived with all his wealth, because he'd introduce so much new gold to the market, the value of the gold would come down and it'd become worthless, due to inflated supply. Therefore, he wouldn't be the richest man today. That being said, he's still comparatively richer than majority of today's billionaires. He just wouldn't be if you brought him back to life, because as I said, gold is no longer used as currency, so it wouldn't work.
@R3RATED
@R3RATED Жыл бұрын
@@GuardianShad you right about inflation but the gold he has are still around as of today or been melted so it woundnt bring supply up since it’s already been here already
@GuardianShad
@GuardianShad Жыл бұрын
@@R3RATED Of course it would, since again, that's not how supply and demand works. Although you are correct in saying his gold would indeed still be somewhere on earth, it simply takes us back to problem no1. Since the abolishment of the Gold Standard, gold is not accepted as currency. If you possessed as much gold as Mansa Musa did in the present day, you'd certainly be rich for it. However, your problem would be you have to *sell* this gold to use it as currency, and there is no one on the planet who'd be willing (or able) to buy that much gold from you. Furthermore, since gold has practical uses, any of his gold which has been melted/moulded is no longer part of the supply. This means if you were to suddenly sell all of that gold, you'd reintroduce it to the supply in the process, thus driving down the price of gold. In fact, Mansa Musa famously lowered the value of gold in his time by accident, simply by giving away too much.

What's Mansa Musa's name? If he gave as much gold to people, what happened to the wealth? Was it somehow taken from the rightful owners, with the value being fraudulently transferred to another group of people?
@master-oppressor
@master-oppressor Жыл бұрын
A "Mansa" is the king. His name was Musa. The Mali empire fell in the 15th century from greed. They don't quite grasp the concept that he was a dictator, and owned tens of thousands of slaves and concubines. To blacks he's almost a god.

@@master-oppressor thanks for answering. My questions are really: What is the rest of the name? Where is the bloodline today? Why weren't the riches passed down to the family? Who we're the "riches" "transferred" to?The slave thing is a very difficult and complex concept. I don't think it was a form of chattel slavery. It almost seems like the form of slavery that Mansa Musa was living is very similar to today's slavery, also known as employment.

@@master-oppressor yes, they kept records, or you wouldn't know about this at all. People were "literate" before, obviously proven by the existence of the university in Timbuktu. So, now my question is now, what's wrong with you? Are you actually the "opposition", trying to manage and direct people's thoughts and beliefs? Otherwise, there's really no need to be hostile & defensive.

Well , i think there's a lot story missing here,, 1. Mansa Musa go to Mecca bacause Mansa Musa saw one of the miracle of Prophet Muhammad,, that is when the moon is devided in two equal,, Mansa Musa is a very religious king,, but back then there's not yet religion Islam but the religion of Musa and Isa,, years before the moon devided in two,, Mansa Musa know about the prophecy bout the sign of new prophet and new religion,, he know from his older religion which is from Taurat from prophet Musa,, so when he see the moon devided,, he know that the time is come for the new prophet and new religion,, so he packed and go to Mecca to meet,, see,, direct to Prophet Muhammad,, and do shahadah,, after that doing hajj,, And Mansa Musa is not 32 when doing hajj is more older than that,, and when he on the way back to Mali,, he got sick and then die, but some of his children and family royalty member being able to travel back to Mali and,, then,, all the generation after that become Muslim Kingdom,, 2. It's still rich when the family royalty member of Mansa Musa back to Mali,, cause, after that building the first university in the world,, and it's all Moslem scholar..❤️❤️❤️

To have placed a price on the wealth of Keita blood is why we all are still technically under white regimen. You can't place the same money that Elon Musk has on what Mansa Musa and they had And it's sad that ,their ancestors are in their feelings about worth Yet i would be too as Keita is apart of the same voyage as our same Egyptian deity that's in British Museum as British Rights still rule some Caribbean states. Let's get real soon. We admire information yet...what's it matter if inappropriate to any sophisticated study of black growth ?

African people should stop celebrating Mansa Musa as a great king. He was not a great king or emperor! He was a robber! He stole his people’s wealth and squandered it recklessly on an idiotic pilgrimage that he undertook in service of a foreign god. He is reminiscent of what is wrong with African leaders today-greed, an inordinate love for an extravagant & ostentatious life style, and lack of concern for the well-being of their people. Had Mansa Musa spent all that gold in developing the empire of Mali, the colonization of West Africa may have been stopped in its tracks.
