I took care of a 102 year old woman in the late 80s. She told me about mostly walking from St Louis to the Olympia area as a child. She said riding in the wagons was like being a marble shaken up in a can! So many amazing stories! ❤

My family survived the lost wagon train to the Willamette valley in 1853, and were stranded in much the same way as the Donner's. Fortunately for me they were all rescued.

Great video. Thanks. My high school American history teacher had a D & D type game he created for the Oregon Trail. This was way before computers in every pocket. His class created an interest in history for me. I learned (and remember) a lot about this subject.

I'm an avid hiker who's gotten lost many times even using high tech navigation aids but can't imagine traversing 2,170 miles on the "Oregon Trail" in wagons pulled by animals with no GPS or accurate maps depending solely on a guide(usually drunk) who used dead reckoning and monuments to navigate by and if anything happened to him you'd be shit out of luck.Yes in deed these were iron men and women in wooden wagons of yesteryear the Nephilim's the Bible spoke of. America should have a special day set aside to honor these souls of past !

“Between 1840-1860, Native American tribes likely killed around 362 emigrants, while the settlers trekking the Oregon Trail killed about 426 Indigenous people.” You have a source for this bold statement?

I think 🤔 might had some relatives that might done that trail , but would have really look 👀 it up. Since my relatives go far back in two countries in North America . But they were here in west , when things were new , border lines were not drawn out. But I have played the classic “Oregon Trail “ , and do have cousins in Oregon state on my Mom’s side.
