I love Mary Berry and was sad when she left Great British Baking Show.
@suestutzle27794 жыл бұрын
If people looked at Mary's face while she was talking with the chef on the beach they could see she clearly liked him. What she said was not said in malice but just funning. I am small and if I got a dollar for every time someone mentioned that to me I'd be richer than Mary Berry!!!! The majority of people though don't mean anything by it. Toughen up people and let it all slide by.

Absolutely love Mary Berry, and the Great British Baking Show is not the same "good family fun" since she left (including Mel and Sue) - quite a loss for the show! Not watching it any longer.
@stevewalston70893 жыл бұрын
Having Mary on GBBO was absolutely fantastic. As for her comments being labeled fat shaming, I find that pretty ridiculous, they were made in a fun way and not intended to be hurtful. If they were interpreted that way that's on someone else. I've seen a few episodes of the non-BBC version and they are not as good without her and the other hosts Mel and Sue. As for Gordon Ramsay ... what an ass. If I wanted to watch TV that bad I would have kept American cable.

As soon as I read the words "the untold truth about Mary Berry" my mind turned away. I encourage others to do the same. We all need to learn to mind our own business and not cultivate the notion that we need to know the secrets of others. Voyeurism has become a slippery slope. I like watching Mrs Berry cook. That's her public life. Anything else is irrelevant.

You do have a point but the swearing at adults could probably be because Gordon expects the contestants to know what they're doing (which they should) whereas the children don't. Even though the children seem to do a better job than the adults when it comes to cooking. I don't think Gordon's swearing has anything to do with his lack of cooking.

Mary is so lady like.She is very kind when she judges not to say you won't know where fell down. She always has a kind word. I just very recently found she had a problem with her left hand. It certainly has not slowed her down. I do miss her on the Great British Baking Show. I agree Gordon Ramsey is unnecessarily abusive in his language. It demeans his talent.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with what Mary commented to the chef. It was much more of a bit of joking but so what? Can we please stop with the “shaming” narratives? She was pointing out a fact about the chef. Good grief, he’s a heavy guy! HE got that way all by himself and he knows that. With all the truly bad things in this world, maybe we should spend less time being offended by everything and more time living our own lives. And, yes, I DO know what it’s like to be mocked or teased unmercifully growing up. It made me stronger and I learned to laugh at myself. I survived just fine.

I think you can either think of it as fat shaming but there are much worse things that chefs have said on TV and I don’t think we need to store it so much. I’m not thin and I’m not obese but I would say that I’m pretty hefty as a person and I thought it was funny. I think that a healthy relationship with food is so important and it’s OK to have a treat.
