Awesome band! I caught these cats live at the 14 BELOW club in Santa Monica, CA back in the 1990s and they killed that shit! One of the best performances I've ever seen! THE UNTOUCHABLES along with FISHBONE and THE SPECIALS are responsible for my being a rude boy today. RIP CLYDE GRIMES. He was one of the greatest guitar players in his respective style and genre of music.

I followed them all around on their LA/SoCal gigs on my 1974 Vespa Rally 200 (it's parked right outside now). 1983 plus. My parka has an Untouchables patch. Kinda the heart of the LA 1st wave Ska scene.

I also had a '74 Rally 200. Great bike for a man. Bigger than most & quick enough stock. Never should have sold it, but no regrets. My last Vespa was a '72 Rally 180 kitted. Once you tangle with the two-stroke it's never as reliable.

Thank you so much! I grew up in South Dakota, and there was some UHF music vid channel that I caught this on. It led me to buy the UT cassette, an I owned in when I was in the USMC. I loaned it to a friend, later asked for it back, and he was like HELLS NO -- it was too good, and he would not return it. He'd never heard of 'em. So many thanks for this introduction, Jon. You rock.

Such a fun band. I saw them many times. I always had a blast at their shows. The best was at Irvine Meadows. Gallagher's Rock Party. Gallagher the comedian, The Untouchables, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Fishbone and one other band. Heck, it was closer to a festival than a concert. Almost 7 hrs. of nonstop entertainment. Gallagher performed in between bands. Finale was all the bands on stage performing I'm Not Your Stepping Stone.

hi david clyde was a great person who had some battles the last few years , but he will always be the king of ska in los angeles in my books. a short story, about my encounter with clyde , So im hangin at skate master tate's crib (9,000 vinyl records) and we are playing some unheard of ska 7" singles , and clyde comes by to pick up a record from taters , and while he is asking for record tate plays a record that blows clyde's mind clyde picks up taters guitar and starts playing a wicked guitar riff , so we three are ad libing and jamming to this track , and the coolest thing happens . clyde had already remixed this track in his head and started playing, guitar and about a year later i heard the untouchabels new song, free yourself and thought (the riff he was playing at taters crib) this is a hit record , and it was , with jerry miller on co vocals, it was a ska ,smash just a story ,from my upcoming book "White Front" a black urban life in los angeles rest in ska peace JERRY hurtado (skatemaster tate) and Clyde Grimes two purveyors of funky ska/funk/punk/rockabilly/metal/thrash/jazzy/ hip hop/music from Don King Ski keyboardist/vocalist of Skate Master Tate And The Concrete Crew (island 4th&brodway records 1991)Do THE sKATE Album 12" SINGLE Justice To The Bass (powell PERALTA SK8 TV Nickelodeon 1990's)also check out me playing all of the music on Funkdoobiest "kalifornia Funk song (2014) on youtube.
