I think Topuria at #5 seems crazy to most people and the more I think of it, it seems crazy to me as well, but I do think that if you really break down his resume and compare it to other fighters, and you count losses, his resume clears because of how great his biggest two wins are. First person to beat volk at FW. First person to KO max Holloway. 50-42 against Emmett, finished Mitchell and beat Zalal, 3 other wins as well. Undefeated. He is just an extreme case of quality and hardly and quantity. Lastly, the margins between 5 through 15 are very thin. Once you get to the 5 spot it takes a while to get to number one as Jones and GSP really stand out from the crowd.

Having DJ (a fighter with 15 championship fight wins) at #11 is crazy to me, especially with the justifications and reasoning you have throughout the video for each ranking. DJ has 3 UFC/WEC losses: one at 23 in his first fight for the promotion (before entering his prime); the second at 25 against a Dominick Cruz in his prime for the bantamweight belt (before starting competing at flyweight, which in retrospective has some importance in this kind of arguments); the third in the rematch against Cejudo, which was a very close fight, and like you said about the last Kamaru fight, should have been a draw or arguably a win but then that could be a stretch like giving Cejudo the win was (but as you know, at that time his relationship with Dana wasn’t the best and he was going to leave for ONE, so the UFC NEEDED Cejudo to win). Plus his bantamweight ONE career needs to have some weight in his ranking: 5-1 with three championship fight wins, only loss against a very good fighter with a move that in the UFC was ilegal but in ONE isn’t , and his record against him is 2-1 with the loss between two wins. @ I always get asked this and there’s a lot to unpack, so I just copy and paste this: Aldo was the best fighter to ever exist peak-for-peak alongside Volk. Cardio was his only clear flaw, but you couldn’t reliably punish him for it unless you could technically shut him down (good luck with that) or had a steel chin and unlimited cardio (Holloway). Aldo had flawless footwork, elite head movement, elite leg kick defence, elite boxing, elite leg kicks, the best takedown defence of all time, a great clinch game and a great bottom game. He was also a decent offensive grappler himself. Not to mention how explosive he was and how much heart he had. Then you look at his resume and there’s about 19/20 good wins on it (including Moraes and Bautista decisions), with several elite wins against prime Mendes and Edgar (two pound-for-pound all-time greats). He only lost 3 fights in his prime to McGregor (all-time great fighter, the best counter-puncher of all time and a tough stylistic matchup for Aldo) and Holloway x2 (one of the greatest fighters of all time, the best volume fighter of all time and a stylistic nightmare for Aldo). He was undeniably well past his prime after 13 years, many injuries and several wars into his career (after the Holloway fights), which is the norm and therefore expected, regardless of age. His reaction speed, athleticism and durability noticeably started fading rapidly after the Holloway fights. Aldo started fighting in 2004, became champion in 2009 and is still beating ranked bantamweights in 2024. He adapted to his cognitive and physical decline better than arguably any other fighter ever thanks to his technical quality and fight IQ. That longevity at a high level is unheard of, especially in the two best divisions in the sport. Losses to elite fighters (Volk, Yan, Merab) years after your prime shouldn’t detract from your legacy at all, that would be illogical and unfair because anyone who sticks around long enough will lose, especially if they’re fighting the best competition out there.

I agree that DC would have beat Alex but I think pereira’s beat better opponents. Sure Stipe is a great win but he’s 1-2 against Stipe and pereira only has 1 loss to a guy he also beat and also beat former champs like Jiri who continue to win. Strickland, blachowicz, hill are great wins too.
