For me, one of the important parts of long rides is to try not to dwell on things when they go wrong, though it's easier to giggle when it's your husband who's been pooed on not you! 😂 Watch to see the ups and downs of emotion on a ride that lasts just over 25 hours.
This was the penultimate ride of the series of rides I'm doing to achieve Super Randonneur status. It was a 400km Audax called the Kingdom of the East Saxons organized by Tom Deakins. We were very well looked after by all the volunteers, a big thank you to all, especially those that stayed up all night for us.
Olight who supplied us with their M2R Warrior light and bike mount. The visibility the Olight gave us at night made riding so much easier and we felt that we were very visible to other road users. You can check out the light here: bit.ly/OlightUK... and they have supplied me with a 10% discount code for you to use as well OlightUK2019. They are really solid lights and have a magnetic attachment for easy charging while riding.

Yea for you, your partner and all of the other folks that did that ride! I am looking into the Randonneur type of bicycle riding. It looks great and the distances are pretty spectacular. Sub'd ;

I did a 400k last year out of Manningtree, probably also organised by ACME, I found that just riding the whole thing with no sleep worked for me, just regular stops......but that part of the UK is pretty flat so not too challenging in that regard !

I think I'd skip sleeping if I did a 400km again and just make sure to have a really good fuel stop before dark. However 300km will likely be my future limit.

Great video replay enjoyed this! I ride audax in my temporary home country of thailand. Currently only completed 200km events but gonna go for a 300 later this year. As for the post ride feeling, quite often its the effects of the heat that has the greatest effect, Dehydration and sone burn are the big issue.

Nice video. I was researching some bike packs and ended up on your vids, which ive enjoyed. I watched your 600k before the 400k so it was interesting to hear your trpidation on this about doing the 600. Glad you got over it and did it. Well done to Nate too ..a proper domestique😅

Nathan is a great domestique until the last 100km when I had to tow him into Brussels. Seriously though we make a good team, he's good at navigation, I handle logistics, but heaven forbid we are both tired, hungry and cold at the same time 💣

@@OneLessCarClosed Your right ye do make a good team. I enjoy the pace of your videos. I enjoy that they arent too tech heavy, some videos, its all carbon this and lightweight that. I appreciate people may want to monetize. Ye have the true spirit of randoneering and brevet, tying back to 70s and 80s when I first started cycling and it was a case of grab a rucksack , any old tent, a pump some patches and off you went on any bike you could find. Im not a luddite who is anti modern tech, but ye still appreciate the joy of it all. Keep it up . Good luck with your channel.

I like to do one ride every year that is a real challenge, but my favourite rides are the ones with an early start, plenty of stops to enjoy the views / go to cafés / take photos, then finish the ride early evening in time for a shower and a takeaway. It's much more enjoyable when you're not in too much of a rush I find.

I plan on riding at least 1500 KM. Any tips? From Tallinn Estonia to Budapest. I plan to go 200-300 KM a day.

Completely agree. I guess we aren't the type 2 fun kind of people.

Enjoy the ride! I'd cap it at 200km a day so your body can rest and you can enjoy it more (I'm assuming you can easily ride 200km now, if not I would build up to it) . Other tip would be to eat eat eat. Eat before you are hungry. And stay hydrated. The basics. The best thing about bike touring is life is all about the basics, food, water and shelter.
