The craziest thing to me was the train controller. For those who don’t know, in the late 90’s a man called Nasubi was practically kidnapped for a game show in which he was stripped and challenge to live off of and raise money by entering sweepstakes. Early in his stay he actually won Densha De Go! with that same train controller but didn’t have a playstation or TV to play it on. Months later (this story is incredibly messed up, Critikal made a really good breakdown.) he finally did get a PS1 and was able to hook it up to a TV. He was so starved for entertainment at that point that he played it for three straight days. Live on stream, which makes him the first ever video game streamer.

15:15 I'm Malaysian -Japanese and also fun fact: Japan really a huge fan of 電車 (densha aka electric train in Japanese) since densha has a lot of variety design and fancy decals around Japan (in Japan you can also find a Super Nintendo World train as well). Densha was a trend for Japanese people around Japan. Even train Otakus loves to collect or play with train models even video games. In Shimajiro World Of Wow anime, there's one character who was a mega fan of densha. His name is Kento. Kento is a 5 years old shiba inu boy who is super obsessed with densha and he wants to be a train conductor when he grows up. He likes to take a photo and play with train models during free time. Kento is a prime example of train Otaku in the anime. I don't think this game is a pile of garbage. It was a popular national treasure for Japanese train otakus especially for children who want to grow up as a train conductor. This game is more than a game. Somewhere around 20 cards (including some of the strongest in the game) were locked behind the device's minigames, but when they ported the game overseas, they simply removed the functionality without adding in those cards. Since the device wasn't known in the west, a ton of rumors went around online about how to get them (like defeating certain opponents 3000 times). This is because a red circle like this ⭕️ means the same thing as a green tick mark ✅, and the blue cross means the same thing as a red X. 33:10 Oh wow! This is a reference to the first ten seasons of Caddicarus where he would slaughter bad games, slauvage mediocre games, and salvage good games. Good video. It's always like after 4 months of nothing, Jimmy Caddick comes out of the woods like Bigfoot to plop an hour-and-a-half video onto his beloved children.

Dude, I can actually kinda relate to 1:17:34, believe it or not. I own the SNES Mouse, and one time I got curious what would happen if I tried to use it in Super Mario World; would I somehow be able to control Mario with a mouse? So I plugged in the mouse and turned on SMW, and that's when all hell broke loose. The title screen audio was completely corrupted, and after a few seconds it suddenly cut to a black screen, and the Forest of Illusion world map theme of all songs started playing. I know people say this a lot, but it genuinely felt like I was living through a creepypasta, and I am baffled that the SNES Mouse of all things caused it

Ah, the NeGcon (pronounced "neh-jee-con", you were close). Namco's answer to simple analog steering controls back before the DualShock ever existed. The red buttons and right shoulder had analog input, so they could vary in intensity just like the twisting to steer. Namco supported the NeGcon for quite a long while, even into the PS2 era with Ridge Racer V and the "NamCollection" that featured 5 of its PS1 games. It's a neat little device, but not the most comfortable to hold, and indeed the limited number of buttons meant its compatibility with the full PS1 was limited. The JogCon was released alongside Ridge Racer Type 4 and apparently featured some "repulsive feedback" on the little wheel for the very few compatible games it was made for (and again, Ridge Racer V was one of the supported games, along with Pac-Man World). It did have a secret NeGcon mode for games that supported it, but there was no feedback to mimic the spring or recenter the wheel, so it would end up a bit awkward.

I actually recognised the slow mode button from some third-party NES controllers, which did the exact same thing, pausing and un-pausing the game repeatedly. And it made a little more sense there because a good chunk of the NES library's pause buttons just froze the gameplay and nothing else. But even then, only some of them, and it's not like that helps much anyway. Third-party controllers will really just do whatever. Also, just wanna say, this may be your best video to date, and even if it was a total coincidence that it landed on the 10th anniversary of your first review video, it was a really appropriate choice for an anniversary episode, with all of the call-backs to games you've reviewed, this video concept itself being hinted at as far back as the PS1 magazines video, and even a slaughter-or-salvage gag. Genuinely awesome to see what 10 years of improvement and passion have given us!

what i think caddy forgets about the one-handed controller is something my dad told me about when he used to have one: it's perfect for rpgs he used to play a lot of final fantasy and things like that which really only use the arrows to move in the menus and overworld and action buttons to select so it's not like there was a lot of super engaged gameplay, at least physically, so he could eat food with one hand and play games with the other
