What I find fascinating is an argument is often "you can't criticise sexism in the past, as it was just a sign of the times, you can't criticise something in the past by today's standards". But, literally, the editors acknowledged that pandering to that audience isn't relevant to a magazine about a video console. They had a set of standards... Then went back on those standards they had set themselves to.
@SineN0mine32 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say you can't criticise things in the past, just that there's not much point to doing so after a certain point. There was a negative reaction to the questionable content at the time, which was enough for them to change their minds, but if they hadn't, criticising them decades later wouldn't change their minds or any body else's now. If you want to express moral outrage, it might as well be for something relevant which people are still forming opinions about. Everything worth criticising so far has happened in the past. Since there's too much bad stuff in the world for anyone to care about all of it, it doesn't make sense to complain too much about old news except for the sake of nostalgia like this video does.
@pillowmint4622 Жыл бұрын
that "past sexism" argument sounds like it'd only be made by people who wished they were in the time period they were defending...for all the wrong reasons...

Caddicarus, I've been a watcher since 2014 or so, and I don't normally comment, but I gotta say, I genuinely think these recent videos are some of the best videos you've ever done. I've felt that your videos over the past couple of years were a bit more focused on random comedic timing and jokes rather than talking about stuff with that style of humor just sprinkled in, and that wasn't really my cup of tea, but this video, the demo disc one, the one where you bought bad games... all of these are absolutely phenomenal. Perfect mix of talking about the topic with your humor in, and the jokes don't ever completely overshadow the topic, nor do they feel like they go "too far" (not in a "this is offensive" way, I mean too far as in "this is too random/loud/ridiculous to be funny" (which I recognize it's all subjective, but personally if something is too loud or random it just feels annoying)). Either way, keep it up! I'm back to excitedly anticipating your new videos because they've just been so fantastic. Thanks for the great content!

I just think it's interesting in a way to see games marketed as one thing when we know them today as something totally different (but not in a false advertising way).
