@@averongodoffire8098 Tbh…. I don’t mind a bit of “room to speculate” or some “a small chance of hope” for some matters… kinda like a movie with multiple possible endings, pic your favorite.

Making Lockdown bearable, 30 minutes through and I’m waiting for the next instalment, superb content and beautifully presented, I can’t believe I have just discovered this. I have been waiting for something exactly like this since the first time I picked up Tolkien 25 years ago ✊🏼

Don’t feel bad; it’s July of 2021 and I’ve *just* found this channel. I’ve been binging Robert’s content *all* month now. And thanks to Robert, I’m also re-reading The Hobbit and LOTR for the first time in 42 years. 😁 What can I say … I was very *young* when I read them the first time.

I would absolutely and unquestionably be in favour of an animated Dunk and Egg series. Animation/illustration is my favourite medium for entertainment (after reading of course), and I feel mostly strongly that it is what is lent best to fantasy storytelling

Yeah exactly, you don't have to deal with the issues of budget and cgi. It would be great if more pre dance of the dragons stories could be made with animation, as it would be so much easier to great the dragons.

The geological pedant in me needs to correct something Robert said about the region's geography. He said the Fingers is a less mountainous area, but that is contradicted by the shape of the land. Areas like the Fingers form parallel peninsulas because they are the peaks of massive, partially submerged mountain ranges. The island of Pebble, the smallest holding off the Fingers, would actually be the tiny peak of an enormous seamont.

More than a year ago I was in the comment section of a live stream with SecretsoftheCitadel as a guest and I was practically screaming! Munkun is super, super suspect! Complacent at best with the Secret siege And Munkun actually wrote The Dance of Dragons The True Telling. He totally flys under the radar of the fandom.

I can see Jim Carrey playing Jon Arryn but it wouldn't be my first choice. Carrey absolutely has the range and ability though. However, typecasting is sadly a real thing and it might be hard to look past, especially with how many "unknowns" are cast in ASoIaF adaptations

I wonder if by the end of all these machinations in the Vale does Sansa get in a position where she can get the sisters as and cause them to be in control of the North by the end of the series? 🤔 Just my OCD brain liking to reorganise maps.

i know this is not the topic but watching this, a question came to me about howland reed. is it detailed in the books where *he* went after the tower of joy? we talked abot ned's travels before but did howland go with him? or is that not mentioned? did he maybe go somewhere else we don't know on his own?

If Robert's theory is correct, he almost certainly went to Starfall with Ned. However, it's another case where too much information too early would give it away. My question is how much of a friend is he really? Did he have genuine affection/loyalty to Ned or was it all his part in Bloodraven's plans.

I'd bet there are many among the old houses, but a lot were likely thinned out because of the Vale being the first and most intense area for Andal migration. I'd say they were thinned by axes as much as by diluted blood and lessened worship. But there's lots of indication that First Men names are typically more literal, so let's look at one possible location that might house a weirwood: the Redfort. Not only is their house name laughably literal, but their banner has a weirwood colour scheme - red on a white background. Other literal names are the Waynwoods (wayn is an archaic spelling and term for a wagon), house Moore (moor is an open field), the Coldwaters, Hunters, and perhaps the Belmores and Waxleys. Including the Royces, it's a fairly small list compared to a good three dozen or more named houses on the wiki that all follow more "Andal" naming schemes. And because of how successful the Andals were at marrying their own into the existing First Man nobility, it's likely that a lot of ancient houses have been mostly Andal for the last couple thousand years.

2:22:30 He’s Gatsby. Low Born with ambition. Their ambition will only be achieved when they get the woman (their dream girl), who signifies success to them. They don’t even know these women, they become delusional and paint an image of who they think they are. When poor (not always) women fantasize about wealthy men, they want the wealth, access, and ease of life that comes with being their wife. In society, even these two fictional ones, men are expected to be the wealthy ones. Jay always wants to be wealthy and really wanted it after meeting Daisy. But he didn’t have a “family name” or high standing in society. He wasn’t a WASP. Little finger” had a title and lands but not enough for a high lords daughter, much less lord paramount . Both earned their money through cheating and gambling. Winning over the affection of a wealthy woman ( who they idealized especially during their formative years) is their true marker of success and equality to the other men that those women would be happy to marry and love easily like Brandon Stark & Tom Buchanan. Another man to look at is Jorah Mormont.

The downsides of the audiobooks for ASOIAF are 1) Roy Dotrice can’t seem to settle on how to pronounce Petyr or Brienne, and 2) even 9-year-old girls sound like hoary old men in his narration.

@Stax 2High it depends on if his current plan fails. Remember as of now he is planning to marry her off to some Vale lad (I forget his name atm) who happens to be heir to the Vale if little Lord Arryn dies without issue. He makes a remark about it being a matter of time for Robert Arryn, he's been sickly since birth. This makes me think that Littlefinger has actually been poisoning him the whole time.
@Levacque
@Levacque Жыл бұрын
@@biggt0820 You don't have to make any assumptions whether or not Littlefinger is poisoning Robert Arryn, because there are at least two conversations he has with the maester where Littlefinger pressures him to keep giving Robert Sweetsleep against the maester's judgement. He's not just poisoning Robert, he's publicly making the maester do it for him. Oh, and the heir to the Vale is named Harry Hardyng.
