Nice video Travis! I live in South Boston VA , about 18 miles from Buffalo Springs. My father found a trash pile full of Broken lithia bottles. He kept digging and found 3 perfect bottles. So don't give up on that dump. It was great seeing new diggers, the kids were great.

Trav, bummer you and Will found so many broken bottles, looked like they were plowed over at one time. The two bottles you found were awesome. Loved all of the tops you saved, such beautiful colors. Chris and his kids sure had fun metal detecting. It was fun seeing their excitement. Great wrap up as always. 👏👏👍😀

Hi, I think the metal ring is for lashing a rope to for cattle or horses. The broken bit of metal with it is the remains of a spike that you would have driven into a fence post or tree. The clay domed item you found is most likely a bung that was hammered into a beer barrel after filling, until you were ready to put a pouring tap in. We find them over here in the U.K. Interesting video, if only the bottles were whole !!
@CrickDiggersInc4 ай бұрын
You are exactly right I think. Some other buddies of mine suggested the same thing. Very cool I didn’t know about the barrel bung first one I ever found in 11 years. Thanks for the info and also definitely going back in hopes for some whole ones this time. A cobalt would be insane

Hey, Travis:That was an amazing old dumping site you guys were at in a secret location.What a scene of broken bottle devastation.I was thinking it could be from 1 or 2 pioneer hotels or saloons nearby.Seems to be indicated by more liquor and beer bottles than sodas, etc.Imagine if just a few dozen were intact...what a sight.So this dates from early 1860s? The hutch pieces maybe date it no later than 1880s.Anyway, it's incredible and worth the effort to check out.

The iron piece with the W or M is a buggy step and the ring is from a horse hame. Man what a bunch of criers in that dump!
@jardigsvermont4 ай бұрын
Is a Hame a part of the head halter? Or the piece it clips onto?
@williammurrow584 ай бұрын
Has nothing to do with the halter. Hard to explain so best to look it up
@jardigsvermont4 ай бұрын
@williammurrow58 its part of the collar that attached to a wagon or plow.

The brass piece is an 1860's women's belt half. It was purely decorative and usually made from silk.

That pottery item you are calling a mold is a demijohn stopper.

I was told it’s a barrel bung but demo stopper would be awesome to I’ve got a few of the demi John’s never found a stopper or seen a pottery stopper but very cool. Appreciate the info.

Did y’all give up at the base of the tree?? If no, what was found? Every time I hit on something by a tree base, my mind goes crazy thinking, someone buried a treasure at the base of this tree so they could remember where it was. 😂😂😂
@CrickDiggersInc4 ай бұрын
Was a large piece of metal, they ended up getting it out but I don’t think I ever filmed it 😆 was long after we started detecting. I always think the same thing though when it’s at base of a tree or under a giant root 😆

Think it was done prior to dumping or as someone else mentioned possibly relocated but we did discover 5 more spots exactly like that so I’m really not sure yet. Gotta be some killer whole stuff in there somewhere. Not giving up on it yet.
@howarddenney53314 ай бұрын
Must have been dumped there already broken.
@SkipRawls4 ай бұрын
Most likely a dump that was moved and dumped there 50 or60 years ago. Bulldozers had there way with them. Dump was closer to town and they wanted to build where it was
