One thing I respect Ian for SO much is he can ACT with his facial expressions and eyes. Which is most important in my opinion. He can act out being genuinely in pain or hurt, or lust, or anger without moving his face drastically. Him being hurt by Elena’s response (which you’re right she didn’t mean, but then also went at Stefan later…? You’re right Damon doesn’t deserve her lol) was played well, and then him closing himself off right after allowing us to see that second 👏🏼 great Stefan allows her her freedom, but Damon loves too strongly (honestly his mother left him, Katherine left him, most woman hurt him in some way or another - so Elena believing in him he truly loves her so it’s harder for him to control his impulses) One thing is Stefan she was with and chose when he was fully good, Damon she started being attracted to while he’s still himself the entire time so idk that told me something when I was watching

The way Damon looks at Elena, telling her she looks stunning, and them dancing together…so cute 🥰 “No im mad at you bc I love you” angst! Damon’s feelings are so strong for Elena and I think it kinda scares her bc she feels something for him too but doesn’t want to. She obviously didn’t mean what she said (bc nobody is more encouraging of Damon allowing himself to feel than her) but she knows he’s willing to do whatever to protect her and said what she said in the heat of the moment. I want to point out something interesting (at least to me). This episode and Damon/Kol/Matt scene is another example of Damon never taking credit when he help someone or do something good. He literally get in trouble for saving Matt life and attacking Kol... He doesn't need praise for that stuff and I think it's good for him, but in the same time I don't like it cause it's not fair when people get mad at him even tho he did something good cause he never tell them and he doesn't mind being hated. Also it's like when Stefan was all in that role of protecting Elena (and everyone else around) - he was praised all the time. When Damon for moment take this role - he is getting criticised.

In my head I always felt the Orignals were 100% powered down (Especially Kol, Finn & Rebekah) until I realised, what if they aren't as strong due to them being daggered so much? Finn had been in a coffin for ages so he's only like 100 Years old in Vampire strength, it's implied that Kol was consistently daggered and undaggered & Rebekah although she didn't have it as bad as Kol & Finn was still daggered quite a bit. So although it's dumb, THIS is kinda how I thought the Originals worked strength wise. And if not the above, then it could also be due to the fact they're still adjusting to being "awake" again since they haven't been undaggered very long.

That is a great suggestion as to why they’re power varies! I actually would want to believe it but I’m pretty sure they are just as powerful all the same. If you give them all enough blood equally and well fed they can all best one another. Although I don’t think they will as Elijah is the master fighter and big brother although Klaus is the most powerful amongst his siblings which is why Klaus and Elijah will always come out on top over the rest of the originals, of course with Klaus last standing Original

But that theory gets completely ret conned by the Originals and TVD itself, SPOILERS Kol says that he once killed an entire coven of witches just for worshiping Silas, and took out half a dozen vampires in S4 of the Originals. Rebekah took out a dozen Strix ancient vampires in TO by herself after being daggered and weakened. The only reason Kol, Rebekah, and Finn looked so weak in this show is cuz of the plot armour and bad writing choices

@memo I always thought that everytime they took down an Original Bonnie should have been at the fore front with assistance from both Stefan and Damon, it makes no sense otherwise for any of them to even pose a threat, Bonnie’s literally the only one on their level, Julie Plec just didn’t know what to do with them and was also to in love with Ian, cuz there’s no way Damon should’ve realistically beat Kol twice 1v1

@memo In UFC, lightweights sometimes beat a higher weight when they transition to the next weight...in real life the strong person isn't always the one who wins...that and it depends on context, suprise attack, whatever it may be, anything goes, circumstances can favour someone else in a fight. Klaus is a significant number above Elijah in strength and speed when he unlocks his hybrid curse but yet Elijah beats him or makes it seem like they are equal in strength even in TO Klaus fight a bunch of vampires in TO, technically as a hybrid and a 1000 year old vampire none of those less-than-100-year old vampires should have even been able to touch Klaus, but they do...so the lines of who is stronger gets blurred all the time even in TO And I know Klaus fights carelessly because he knows he can't be killed, but I bet so do all the other Originals, except Elijah...they don't have fighting experiences, super rusty due to being daggered for centuries...that's about it

@memo do you guys know what "stringing along" means? It means giving someone false hope while knowing there is none. SPOILERS She kissed Damon because Stefan told her to go explore her feelings. She was clear she wanted to be with Stefan and clear to Damon that she was not sure what it is she felt for him. Both men knew exactly were they stood. Season 4, she remains single not with either and making it clear that she had feelings for both but was unsure and wasn't going to make a decision until she was. She wasn't giving either of them false hope and she wasn't iffy about her emotions she was very clear. Either man could have walked away if they wanted. Elena didn't choose Stefan. She thought they were dying and was forced to choose who she will say goodbye to in person. Then they both ended up not dying, then the heighten emotions came into play.

Stefan did the right thing by walking away because Elena did love Stefan but it was not enough from her side because then she wouldn't kiss Damon and start this love triangle. We can see the pain in stefans eyes as Elena was his epic love . At the same time Damon got hurt because of Elena as she gave him mixed responses. In short at this point of time Elena neither loves Stefan as much that she discards Damon nor she loves Damon so much that she can replace him with Stefan.

On the other hand delena has passion and it also feels beautiful but stelena has something special, something that melts my heart just the way Elena melts in stefans arms. Also , it is difficult, very very difficult to choose between the Salvatore brothers obv, but if I were Elena and I had Stefan , I would never leave him because we all know that both Salvatores loved Elena but Damon brings chaos with love but Stefan brings peace. 🥺❤️

Spoilers: In regards to the originals - post mikaels death he was on the other side with Esther and when he gets back it’s for a whole different purpose.
