I'm still so pissed that they gave Caroline the REAL letter to burn. They could have made a copy or a photo or Bonnie could have restored it or something... I remember the first time watching this episode and being so sure that the letter is fake or a copy when the gave to Caroline. I was expecting for Stefan or someone to give her the real one later on and when I realised that I thought wrong, I was SO mad.

It's true he likes to be a vampire ever since Sage taught him to accept and draw benefits from his being a vampire but in reality Damon is the most human vampire of all vampires and it seems strange but that's what he misses most about his humanity 😂 just that everything scares him.

@@andreearamona1 Yes, Sage taught Damon to enjoy certain aspects of being a vampire, but it wasn't all that long ago (after Rose died) that Damon was pouring his heart out to some random woman in the street about how much he missed being human. I tend to believe that was the truth, because there was no reason to lie to that woman, especially considering he killed her immediately after. I think anything he's said since then that contradicts that was more about Damon not wanting anyone who knows him to see anything weak or vulnerable about him, so admitting to wanting a cure he wasn't even completely sure existed (and that they later found out had only one dose) was just not something Damon was willing to do. While I do believe he wasn't completely miserable living as a vampire, I don't think enough time had passed since Rose's death for me to believe he had changed his position on being human so completely.

For him it works black or white, you love me or hate me, live or die, I'm human or I'm a vampire. Human Damon from childhood lived and given the fact that he was not loved and accepted by anyone he had become a depressed person with no high expectations of life left with his father who had a conflicting relationship and a younger brother lived in terms of his father and younger brother. small. When he meets Katherina she is the first to give him attention and we say "love" that's enough for him to do anything for her, when he wants to become a vampire and gets ready together with katherina still human he is scared and disgusted but he knows that to be with her he must become who she is, he is happy for the first time in his life and he does not want to lose that happiness, he knows that if he stayed human he would be happy for a while but katherina was spoiled and knew that as a human he would not be was at its height especially for that era. You can turn off his humanity for almost 50 years so unlike the other vampires he has kept his humanity for a long time and therefore he made a lifestyle of this he convinced himself to be the villain. The disappointment of katherina and the approach of Elena and Stefan very slowly ignites his humanity but forgetting his humanity he continues to be the villain and when Rose dies he realizes that he has turned on his humanity he begins to be aware of this is all scares him because he does not know feel human more. You can he found himself a lot in the story of Rose in a different way but metaphorically they had a similar life that is Rose has been running away from the originals for decades in search of free from them so a kind of slave, Damon for years and years waiting for katherina is trying to save her by making him a slave, she lived in the darkness without the sun, Damon lived in the darkness of her non-humanity, both alone wandering around the world and so on when she dies and entering her mind and has seen her humanity and begins to be aware of her humanity she goes into crisis because she suddenly feels vulnerable and doesn't know how to handle this. In season 2 he experiences inner conflicts to accept his humanity because just being rational feeling human falls his principles of being a vampire I cannot change this and therefore I cannot feel human, I am bad and mon I can feel good. Damon tells Jessica that he misses his humanity more than anything but he doesn't know how to behave human to please her to others because he's not human I'm a vampire. He doesn't say I don't want to be human because I like being a vampire but he says I miss my humanity but I can't afford and dream of playing human and he kills Jessica to prove to himself that she is a vampire and that's what vampires do. In season 4 when Elena tells him to take the cure with him, he starts fears of losing her again because he might go back to Stefan and is angry with her because he thinks she loves him for enslavement but once human she doesn't love him anymore and says not I'm Stefan who has human dreams now seeing that Elena wants to be human so much he says I can't live in eternity without her live in a few years for you can he no and so he says I've lived a lot as a vampire and I've seen everything then he wants hers humanity, however, rightly Elena does not know all these and therefore she wants him not to repent later and Elena in turn does not know that in addition to her he wants the cure for himself. You can there would be another reason Damon overwhelms his humanity and is prevented this is Stefan preventing him from doing it without SPOILING in 8x10 is the key to everything to understand Damon the brothers. So Damon is the most human vampire and he would most of all want to have his humanity and start over with Elena but nom is left to do so.

Realistically if you would open it or read it or copy it … a letter that was intended for your close friend from their now death parent … then it says more about you as a nosey person than anything

They don't need a second cure if Elena takes it first. If she takes it then her blood would become the cure, so someone (Damon) could drink that. The only thing that happens through this (like we've seen with Katherine) is that her actual age will catch up to her. Since Katherine was over 500 years old, it was deadly to her. But Elena is only about 3 years older than her vampire self, which means she would just age 3 years, which is in her case totally harmless.

The thing with Damon that I feel should've been expressed more in canon is that he's got all this self doubt. He's usually someone's second choice- we see it with their dad, Katherine (who really dug that in to mess with him), originally Elena, and now we see it with their mom. Or even when Damon's turning over a new leaf, people won't give him the slightest benefit of the doubt (logically most times). Even people I'd think would be more open to doing so. What's bad is that Damon handles this by not even hearing Elena out a lot of the time. He thinks he knows what she wants/what's good for her more than she does... and to be fair yeah they *were* being bad for each other every time he said so and she *does* really wanna be human again in a way that could feel like "Yeah I don't wanna know I'm the reason you aren't getting all that you want". But Damon removes Elena's right to choose what's "wrong" anyway, and its supposed to be ok bc its *for* Elena but to me- again I wish they explored/showed this more in canon- it registers as Damon trying to protect himself (understandable, not communicated well enough tho). Like "let me break up with you before you can hurt me. Let me avoid rejection, let it be my choice in a way." kinda stuff. Its an interesting if not familiar trait/backstory, but I feel like the show never gets into it enough for the audience to (understandably) see it as anything but a bad habit or him just being a control freak. Especially when you pair it with the harm that he does... it can come off as a really toxic (which it is, but I mean toxic that's just toxic with no kind of connected storyline). The show really developed him, but then I look at a character like Caroline and I'm like "How'd they slack off in some areas with other characters and then do so great with Caroline?" Damon imo had the potential to be THE most amazingly developed character on the show with a super dramatic arc... but a bit too often it felt like the writers needed old Damon again for the plot and they set him back a few steps, ultimately leaving him stagnant. Still find his character super interesting, and almost all of my favorite buddy pairings on the show are with him in it. I also think Ian did a good job w directing and acting the role so.... this isn't Damon slander!!

It would work. Elena would take the cure, and Damon would take it from Elena. With the, cute out of Elena she would age up until she turned. So she would age up like 3 or 4 years (whereas Katherine aged up 500 years, causing her to die. Elena would live). If Damon takes the cure from Elena, the cure would need to stay in him. If it’s removed from him, then Damon would age up and die since he’s lived past a normal lifetime

I don't know why people say Damon took away her choice. His mother put him in a position where he had to choose between getting the cure back for Elena or putting Bonnie in danger. But before that he spent half the day playing the "what if we were human" game; I've always assumed he was trying to get info so he could put Elena's perfect human life in motion while he still had the power to compel people, and that he was going to offer her the cure once everything was in place.

I don’t think this is a spoiler, but on how Damon and Elena would both take the cure: So I think the idea would be that Damon would drink the cure from Elena after she takes it. It wouldn’t effect her like it would Katherine, because she hasn’t aged that much since becoming a vampire. Then Damon would have the cure in his system, so he would just age normally from the age he was when he turned into a vampire. Katherine only aged quickly because the cure, which is magic, was taken out of her, and she was really old by that point.

I was confused about how Damon took the cute at first, too, but here’s how it works. The cure was take from Katherine and she rapidly aged because of how long she’d been alive. Damon can take the cure from Elena and she wouldn’t rapidly age because she’s just around 22ish anyway. But if someone took the cure from Damon, etc. they’d rapidly age. The cure technically works as 1 + 1 if it comes from Elena.

Katherine died cause she is hundreds of years old so when the cure/magic was removed from her body, her body became what it should of been hundreds of years ago. Elena has only been a vampire for a few years so if she takes the cure and then Damon takes it from her blood, Elena would just be the same ..slightly older but still young like Bonnie's age. Damon would have the cure/magic in his body so he will be fine as long as he keeps the cure in his system and no one takes it from his body until he is actually old.
