Damon killed Tyler to prove to Sybil that he was cutting ties with everyone and it just goes to show that even when Damon is being mind controlled by Sybil, at his lowest, never does it cross his mind to hurt Elena (who would’ve been easier considering she was in a coffin). I’m not gonna lie, Tyler isn’t one of my fav characters but I actually felt kinda bad and it’s sad bc Damon was actually walking away from him until Sybil started her humming. I knew Jer would be happy with that scene before I even watched 😩

Although I wasn’t really that upset when Tyler died, I still think his death was unnecessary and he deserved better. Like he hasn’t been in the show consistently since season 6, and now they bring him back for an episode just to kill him? Like why? They could’ve just let him live and literally nothing would change. He’s been off living the life he’s wanted to for awhile. Just let him live and be happy, lol. I guess the only argument you could use as to why they killed him off is that it shows that Damon is still under Sybil’s control even when she’s locked up. But he was still a pretty important character for a lot of the show, and he gets taken out super quickly and easily. They could’ve just had Damon kill a random person. This is just one more thing Damon has to feel guilty about now.

Enzo was never really loved so it’s nice to see him get picked as most important. No one is there with Bonnie for choosing Enzo is what had to be done because Damon had Stefan anyway but what I didn't like was that his choice to give up Damon was not a question of equalizing between the two. Damon had Stefan but she gave up on him because despite the forgiveness she is still hurt by abandonment and that according to her Damon gave up and did nothing against Sybil. I love Bonnie she is my favorite female character but this episode was unfair, self-righteous and very moralistic.

I absolutely hated seeing Sybil changing Damon’s memories of Bonnie. Damon had kept those buried deep, just like his memories of Elena to keep a bit of his humanity still there. You can tell Enzo knew that Damon was holding onto memories of Bonnie and he was trying to make sure Sybil didn’t take those away from Damon. He was so scared that she would.

Idk why you hate Tyler, but I think it's absolutely messed up of the writers to character assassinate him. His character finally found where he belonged. He was thriving. So they brought him back just to kill him? That was dumb and disrespectful to the character and actor. I didn't mind Tyler because he overcame a lot. People hate on him because anything Caroline does is forgivable and that's bs. She did him dirty and then tried to force her excuse on him right after. He told Caroline several times to back off, but like always she has to push in order to clear her conscience. Like I said before....Had Rebekah killed her mom and then Tyler slept with Rebekah....the double standard would be evident, because there is no way control freak Caroline would let that go. And everybody would be cheering her on going off on Tyler too. It's bs. As for that scene of Caroline trying to reason away her sleeping with his mother's murderer, her friends' kidnapping torturer and attempted murderer who still refused to change his ways.....Stefan was out of line for punching Tyler. He showed his fangs to Caroline just to get her to back tf off. She wasn't listening to what HE needed. He needed space to digest this shock to his system. He wasn't going to bite her. But Caroline pouts and looks wounded, so here comes her defenders...and just like that. All is forgiven. No. Tyler got away from the crazy town and made a good life for himself, while protecting Elena's body. Damon killing Tyler seems more like a strategy to get rid of Elena's protection, so sybil can play the long game of breaking Damon down enough to kill her. He only showed Sybil the old bad sides of him and Bonnie because he didn't want to lose his link to his humanity. He tried to protect Bonnie by making her seem irrelevant to Damon...and therefore no threat to Sybil. I love that Enzo was strong enough to resist her. He spent a majority of his life being tortured. He can withstand more and fight harder than Damon. That confirmation that he and Enzo aren't friends like Enzo thought is now out there. Now he knows that Bonnie is truly all he's got. Sad. The pain on Damon's face when she chose Enzo....😭 he was so hurt. And coming from a person of color....knowing the backstory of what went down with this show, and observing the constant excessively violent murdering of all poc on the show, it doesn't surprise me the way they screwed Trevino over. The man was used as a punching bag in this character for everyone to hate on.

The only thing I dislike about this episode is that Tyler got a good death scene. He really didn’t deserve that. Absolute worst thing about the show and he got a badass death. That REALLY pissed me off when I thought about it after watching. However whilst watching I was literally cheering.

Yeah I honestly didn't care when they killed Tyler. They tried so hard to make his death so important and pivotal but don't think it really made a difference.

I remember when this episode first aired, I was watching with my friends and then...Tyler died. I broke out into the biggest, most obnoxious, happy dance I've ever had. I understand that my hatred for the character of Tyler is completely irrational. But I'm okay with that☕🐸. (on that note, I love Michael Trevino and wish he got to play a better character).

Honestly at first tyler wasn't a good person but he did change he always contributed to the any plan they had always helped matt, caroline even elena. The really turning point was when he went out of his way risking his life just to free the hybrids sired to klaus and it was still in vain😢Honestly he had a really hard time, his mom died, his uncle the only that could help him with the curse died , and then the curse, being sired to klaus!!! He wasn't my best character but he still deserved a lot better
