Program Description:
On the thirtieth anniversary of the Velvet Revolution which led to the collapse of communism in Czechoslovakia, the leaders of the student protesters in 1989, Mr. Jan Bubeník and Special Envoy Václav Bartuška, author and poet James Ragan, Film Director Pavlína Moskalyková, and Tatiana Gregor Brzobohatá, Miss World 2006, Charity leader and United Nations Ambassador will recall the dynamics of the Revolution and the subsequent transition to democracy, as well as the contemporary political challenges in the Czech Republic and Central Europe. The panel discussion will be moderated by Professor Elizabeth Drummond, Department of History, Loyola Marymount University.
