I second your sentiment my friend. The Ventures are tops in my book! And congratulations on getting back into playing. Also, they used whats called a Fender Reverb Unit to help them get that distinctive surf sound, as did Dick Dale and the Surfaris. It's pretty expensive but definetly a worthy investment if you really want to play these songs.

If I hadn't heard The Ventures, I couldn't have ever imagined the wide range of sounds that can be produced on guitar. Their lead, bass, rhythm and drums produce magical effects. The chords they play are pure delight to ears. The backing drumming by Mel Taylor adds dynamism to every delectable rendition.
