I just watched Todd Kolb video on how to hit a 7 iron and it was very informative. I have not played golf in more than 20+years and I just finished playing my 11 round of golf. And to my amazement I am playing golf just as good as I did more than 20+ years ago. I used to be a 5 handicap player and to my amazement I am now am a 5 handicap player again. I am now 72 years old and I am trying to play golf every day. My lovely wife Judy is behind me a 100%. She used to play golf with me and she is going to start playing golf again. She used to be a 10 handicap player and she likewise never took a lesson. I have never taken a lesson I am self taught. I plan on watching Todd's videos because they are very good. I hope to continue to play golf for at least the next 20+ years. I hope this will inspire some of your viewers. Thank you, Bruce McPhee

Todd, I'm 67 and after numerous videos from you, I am playing the best golf of my life since you have focused on the "experienced" golf swing. I went to vertical line driver with hover and my playing partners are now 50 yards behind me. I just watched this vertical line for irons and can't wait to put it into play. I have also been focusing on slight forward weight at setup and it really helps to keep me centered at contact. Thanks so much. I watch everything you put on here and learn something useful every time. I was a 12 handicap forever and after your tips over the last 6 months I'm down to 5!!!

I been trying to figure out why I hit behind the ball. I can now see how shallow swinging influences the lead arm which influences where the bottom of swing arc occurs . I have tried everything like standing taller, playing ball back off inside of rt foot and more weight shift. I will give the vertical some consideration to try as I do turn with left arm across chest at top a lot . Hope it improves the dreaded Hitting the Big Ball First. Makes sense and Will let you know. Thanks for your expertise.

vertical line swing is Gold. Im hitting the ball better and more consistent. Im curious though on the downswing, one of your videos you said to swing for right field. I guess that was with the baseball drill, Im not sure if Im doing that properly but Im working on it. On a different note, I was watching one of your videos and you mentioned "tension" I have found myself making a couple perfect practice swings and then go to make the shot and tense up and swing for the fence. 9 times out of ten I screw it up. Im doing my best to not try to overswing and I am doing better but old habits are hard to break. 63 years old and trying to improve thanks for the great content

Hi Todd, Thoroughly enjoy your dynamic presentations and your energetic style. Your easy to understand are great. One question I have is what part of the golf ball should you focus on with various clubs, {driver, fairway woods/hybrids, and irons)?
@USGOLFTVshow3 жыл бұрын
Dennis, thanks for watching and the kind words. We like to focus on the back side of the ball or just the ball in general. Gear your attention more towards your body and the feeling of moving in space vs the ball and you will be more confident and successful in our experience. Hope that helps!

I love the more vertical swing. It's always had me playing my best golf - but I keep letting more traditional golf instruction suck me away from that. The other issue I run into is sometimes getting too steep on the downswing. With such a vertical swing, how do you make sure you're shallowing the club enough on the downswing? If I can solve that problem, I'll be on my way! (famous last words...lol...)
@USGOLFTVshow3 жыл бұрын
Good question. The key is not that the club is shallow, it is that it is shallowing. Make sense? You are spot on that tradition coaching has golfers believing they have to be super shallow coming into the ball. That works if you can rotate your body very aggressively, most average golfers simply can not do that. Great post. 👊
@ericb1243 жыл бұрын
@@USGOLFTVshow Do you have a suggestion or drill that can help me to ensure my club is shallowing on the DS? or maybe you could do a video on this issue for us vertical swingers?

I have been a vertical swing player for years. How does your"vertical line swing" compare to PPGS or Trehan's vertical swing? Keep these videos coming!
@robertscott6833 жыл бұрын
Me too! So I'm wondering about this as well. I've been PPGS for years also (at least 10 years), and I love it. Trahan dives deep into the physics and physiology of the vertical swing. The PPGS makes great sense and it really works well for me -- I'm 74 years old. Trahan appears to have pretty much retired from KZbin. I would also love to see more videos about the vertical line swing. I've also gotten a lot of help from your short game videos. Love this channel.

Hi Todd. I don't know if you'll see this message because your video is form March. But if you do, I have a problem applying this wonderful tip. The practice swing is exactly the way you demonstrate, but since this is. a longer swing, I don't have the continuity that I have with the short one and I lose control of the swing plane and/or the rhythm.

I guilty of swinging to inward as I use shoulders to take club back and hips to swing through... I believe I don't get height in top of backswing but yet I can still hit an 8 iron approx 150 yards with a slight draw... I'm intrigued to see if adding height will A. Sort club path out and B. I think many golfers swing this way because of their misconception of the “one-plane swing”. Also, they think if they make a shallow backswing they can get a shallow downswing and similarly since they take the clubhead to the inside in the backswing it will also come from the inside in the downswing.
@USGOLFTVshow3 жыл бұрын
You are speaking the truth here...some real wisdom....most golfers are better off getting the club vertical in the backswing so they can move to shallow in the downswing...

@amac84873 жыл бұрын
I have the same issue Carla. I been practicing in front of a long mirror at home to shallow my backswing up more along the line of my shoulders. I try and focus on swinging the club “around” my body, and not “above” my body. I’ll do 3 slow back swings, then one normal/fast speed to keep working that into muscle memory
@robertscott6833 жыл бұрын
When you reach the top of your vertical backswing, your swing thought on your downswing should be that you are skipping a rock across a pond or throwing a softball underhanded. This should avoid coming over the top. Credit to Don Trahan for these swing thoughts. They work for me, I hope they help you too.
@C-Aye-Toldyaso3 жыл бұрын
Carla if you concentrate on rotation as you are going vertical you will be, at the top of your backswing, in position to approach the ball from an inside out track.
