This clip popped up since I have been browsing to listen to So Sister, that I only have on vinyl, but was also listening to the This is Music 92-98 Collection, I Went here to type that it is one of their best but for me the personal favourite is Monte Carlo to be frank and put it right.

Music that seeped under my skin about 15 years ago and never left. A weighted resonance with this song, always has been.

In my opinion, The Verve is one of the greatest bands ever and Richard Ashcroft is a GOD!

The first time I heard this song, I was at my friend's helping him scrape wallpaper off his room wall. He had put in the CD single with this as the B-Side. So there I am scraping wallpaper thinking "pretty decent song..... If someone played it at a party I wouldn't walk out in disgust". Then the "Oh Lord I guess I'll never know" part of the song started and I stopped and turned, dropped the scraper and just shouted "My God! I Fucking LOVE that song!!"

One of my all time favourite Verve songs. Played this more than the cd's more famous A-side :)

Same. Makes ya curious about what constitutes an A-side vs a B-side.

This song is intensely excellent and unlike many artists the melody isn’t too repetitive.

My dad's generation had the who and zep, me and my generation had the roses and verve, and we always will have. Ashcroft, McCabe, Jones, Salisbury, legends. And respect to Simon Tong aswell.

I had the Who, Zeppelin and Crimson too but I love the Verve and Ashcroft because they are as good as the groups of my generation.

@@graziaguerrini6375Love it, not long finished listening to Ren off the back of The Verve and that boy is a next level talent, it's much nicer not to be stuffy about our youth eras 😂 The Verve and The Who live are untouchable in an improvisational sense, prog rock was soulless self-indulgent look at me shit, unlike a lot of their contemporaries the only boundaries The Who and The Verve ever had live was taste 😂

I wonder if Nick is playing on this? None of the tell tale effects or guitar inflections typical of him from this period in this song. I wouldn't be surprised if the guitars are all Ashcroft and Simon Tong. Not that it makes a difference really. The song is perfect.

love this song, too good for a b-side, but like oasis were sometimes the b-sides were better than the a-sides! loved the verve since 93 when they were just verve, loved them since. love listening to this in a blacked out room on full subs on the hi-fi and the sound consumes you especially at 3.17!

And???????????????????????? Please don't give it all the self righteous (pun intended) rubbish about how much more evolved we are now, and that you know with utter certainty that you understand everything existentially. Dear atheists, please accept the fact that the vast majority of nearly 7 billion people on this planet believe in something spiritual, in a God or Gods of some kind. Get over yourselves! As human beings we know next to nothing in the grand scheme of things.
