As a huge fan of theirs who had been keeping his fingers crossed for a Verve reunion it was such a joy and pleasure to finally see and hear them perform their magical songs - not to mention the first row in neughbouring Austria. There they played Rather Be for the first or so time and I remember how much I enjoyed it. That was definitely one of the very best gigs I ever attended! I hope I can see them once more sometime.

I love this song, is more deep than it looks for me, a song that if you are depressed, you can feel how the lyrics describe what are you feeling and that thought of ''I guess better be here than anywhere'' that keeps you pushing a bit more and don't do something stupid. The magic of this song is that, when you pass that depression status is when you really understand the meaning of the song. At least for me is about a "happy" acceptation of what is life, sometimes you are in deep shit, and some others you are full of joy. Is a song that makes you be greatfull for being human "you know this feelings I have found they are all so rare, is there anywhere better than here?" If we wouldn't have bad moments, we wouldn't enjoy the good ones.

А мне с первой прослушки не зашла. Знацца нужно переслушать неск раз. На днях наткнулся на эту группу. Ещё один Оазис походу. Те песни, где они конкретно подражают Роллингам или Битлам очень нравятся, а где идёт немелодичный занудный гранж то чтот не катит. Потому Оазис толком и не слушал, так отдельные песни. А у Верве сходу офигел от песен Биттер симфони и Сонет. Очень красивые песни. Вот бы все были такого уровня. Физиономия интересная, собирательный образ разных музыкантов. I agree with you 100%, but I would humbly suggest that the love transmitted by Richard, and by me when I write, is not ultimately ours to supply, only indeed ours to TRANSMIT. God is the original source, and through creativity in music and writing we are servants of the great, beloved, dynamic, ever-inspiring Holy Spirit. Whose one and only task - albeit pursued in a billion different ways - is to get us to SEE. I am a willing, aware participant in that, but I am not sure if Richard realises he serves in the same way - also in Bittersweet Symphony and Lucky Man. I read an interview with him once in which he said he gets the spirituality, so maybe he is fully aware of what is happening. This song is about spiritual realisation and awakening, and yet that is exactly what we receive when we listen to it. How neat is that? Holy Spirit neat...
