Steve Martin is fine actor and a great comedian. But in Planes Trains and Automobiles, the final scene in the train station when John says "Marie's been dead for eight years" his delivery is beyond perfect. It is straight from his heart to ours. The great thing about John Candy is what you read about everyone who worked with him. And that was that he was a joy to work with and always humble. And even more, the general public who had the pleasure to meet him said the same. He was a true gentleman, and treated everyone he met with respect. I’m glad I grew up with his movies. They all brought great joy to us who grew up in the 80’s and 90’s. Anyone who didn’t love Del Griffith is no friend of mine.

John Candy was a great man, who put other people first. How ironic as he was such a big man. And one definition of a great man, is someone who is willing to be little.

As well as being from Mr. Candy's home town Newmarket, Ontario. I had the greater sense that he was like a rock star...and yet John was always around the corner. My mother recalled driving up the big hill on Main Street in Newmarket...and all at once having to jam her brakes on! She wanted to know who the mindless numbskull was...sure enough it was JC feigning a heart attack! Mom couldn't help but smile and say...get outta the way John! He smiled and went about his day. Love ya Johnny!

Stress from the cold turkey effect of smoking a few months ago and the team he co-owned was sold, alcohol shots, tiring shooting and mediocre accommodation in Mexico, arguments about the script combined took its toll on his life.

This was heartbreaking to watch. I miss him so much. I had the great pleasure of meeting him once. I asked him for an autograph but to sign it as Orson Welles, and he kindly obliged me. That was 1985. My favorite Candy character was Dr. Tongue. And Johnny LaRue. I still watch the SCtV Christmas Show religiously ever year.

What a shit name, like calling someone John Lolly, I mean what a joke, your just an imperial wreck (the USA), you've easily caused most of climate change so this is what humans will be remembered for (extinct).

@Cody Levinson You understand?? I shouldn't get when I type in a musician's name on youtube and get nothing but videos by you and whatever I type in, whatever, it's only your videos, I can't find normal videos, believe me I've tried. I should only be able to write in an account you own's name then click on it and watch and I would be willing to do that because that is a lot more respectful and better for a relationship of some kind. However it is only your videos no matter what, I'd have to move house and buy a new computer and get a new account to fix this on my own, so yes you have the power, congratulations your a controlling, freedom-depriving arsehole, daughter of Stalin.
