Yeah, I always preferred it because it was closer in spirit to the games than SMBSS was. Seeing Mario and Luigi actually bashing blocks and stomping Goombas in cartoon form was really cool as a kid. Super Show was fun for what it was, but it never felt like Super Mario Bros. to me. Also with all due respect to Charles Martinet, Tony Rosato's Luigi is the best Luigi voice imo.
