X-men: Evolution is not the most fondly remembered television adaptation to come out of Marvel Comics. In an era where it was a struggle to get anyone to take superhero stories seriously, X-Men Evolution did what no one else was willing to do, it let them evolve. With Deadpool and Wolverine reigniting peoples fandom for Marvels X-Men, do you think X-Men Evolution deserves more credit for the path it paved?

Seriously. Like, I love the 90s X-men but why are they the only ones that get love? I personally really loved the idea of spreading the classic X men characters across different generations/age groups. One of the main examples I can think of is making Jean and Cyclops teens and Wolverine an adult. I've always hated the love triangle with them and this was a way to throw that entire concept out the window from the start. Which in my opinion is an absolute win.

@@Spaxer pretty much. But the bts scenes concerning both characters is where the real issues are seen. As Bendis clearly didn’t want alienate Peter Parker fans, which is most likely why so many characters from the initial Ultimate Spider-Man and Peter’s characteristics were used. As for Evolution. It was most likely due to the series being a lot more simple and kid friendly. Cause Laura is severely lacking depth to make her a standout. She really is just “Teenage Wolverine” in this show. Glad the character was created at all. But the start is definitely weak, like a couple of marvel Legacy Characters

"Time forgot" It's funny how the perception differs between countries. I can't confirm how it was received in the US, but in Brazil it was a very striking cartoon, being featured in the morning cartoon block of a certain TV Channel during more than a decade. I can say with certainty that, for those born between 95 and 2005 (and maybe a little later) when they think of cartoons and X-men, this is what comes to mind, and not the TV show of the 90s which, apparently, It is much more famous in the USA.

I'm from Spanish-speaking America and I grew up with X-Men '92, but I also watched Evolution and it was kind of weird, because Evolution aired in Cartoon Network, but as a kid I always associated Marvel with Fox Kids where all of the 90s Marvel shows used to air. Also, all of the '90s Marvel cartoons, save for Silver Surfer and Avengers United they Stand, were dubbed in Mexico, but Evolution was dubbed into Spanish in Venezuela, probably because Warner Bros. made the show and they tend to dubbed some their animated shows, especially DC ones in Venezuela, so it was weird hearing Xavier with Superman's voice, Magneto with Batman's, Beast sounding the The Joker, among others

@@mecube9148 So, in Brazil, schools usually have classes that study in the morning (7am to 12pm) and classes that study in the afternoon (1pm to 5pm). The vast majority of elementary school children studied in the afternoon. We're talking about the early 2000s, when Broadcast TV dominated, the entire population of the country watched one, 2, 4 channels at most, there was no real internet, cell phones were only for calls, sudoku and snake games, not everybody had a computer or a videogame at home. In the morning, the schedule on these channels was basically cartoons and lighter programs, but mainly at lunch time it was the "golden hour" because all the children had their TV on to have lunch while watching a cartoon before going to school. Precisely on a channel called SBT, X-Men Evolution was shown on a loop between 12pm and 1pm for a few years and ended up reaching an entire generation.

I think alot of people remember it honestly especially younger. It got the best of both the shows it was sandwiched in between while also having numerous advantages over the 90s show for the simple fact that it handled alot of the general cast better like jean and scott who aren't done real justice till 97 imo.

Forgot? There's a generation of people that watched Evolution many times and never watched the one from the 90's, there are people that would much prefer a sequel to this than X-Men 97... Here in Brazil if you ask anyone about X-Men animated, 90% will talk about Evolution, it's very beloved

People generally considered this the best-aged X-Men show (at least until 97 came out). Everyone I hear comment on the show likes goth Rogue, X23, the Brotherhood, its restraint in not overdoing Wolverine, etc... But sure, it's "the weird one that time forgot" and you can't POSSIBLY tell "who is this for"??? It's not even all that weird as an X-Men adaptation. It shuffles some relative character ages and alters the schooling situation a bit. It's like calling Batman Beyond "the weird, niche Batman show that no one remembers!!!" Everyone interested in this franchise knows about this show, and most of them like it!

I feel like this show does get forgotten in the larger pop culture but those of us who love this show, the conversation has never died. Favorite episode is definitely season 3 episode 8: Self Possessed. I remember downloading that episode on my PS3 and watching it ALL THE TIME. 😂

Brazil. It was for Brazil. Older generations know the x-men from the 90's cartoon, but this show was such a huge success it was replayed over and over for some years on open tv. So everyone, literally everyone knows this show.

X-men evolution was honestly amazing. While the series ended on a good note, I wish we got season 5. Emma Frost and Psylocke were confirmed to appear in it and we would have had the Phoenix story next. Shame we never got either

To me evolution feels like a DC Comics animated show, due to the fact that it was done by Warner Bros. and because the Latin American Spanish dub I watched as a kid was done in Venezuela, where almost all of DC animated works are dubbed, so it was kind of weird for Magneto having the same voice as Batman, Beast sounding like The Joker, Professor X is Superman, Wolverine is Jon Stewart, etc.
