In this guided meditation, we practice becoming present by following the breath. Calming the body with each exhale, the body and the mind become connected and settled by awareness of breathing. Feeling the breath, with the mind in a steady and calm state, we notice a natural peace in our body. We turn the attention then to recall the aspects and qualities of the Divine. While enjoying the breath, we recall some of the qualities that we associate with God, and take a moment to listen to the responses that arise in the mind in response to the question, "Who is God? What does God feel like?"
Spending a few minutes remembering the nature of the Divine, and calming the body and mind by attending to the breath, we invite greater balance in our lives, since oftentimes, we do not feed our bodies and minds divine remembrance, or hold in our awareness God's goodness. This meditation cultivates one's preference for the sattvic (that which is light, good, life-giving, and pure). Divine remembrance meditation helps to bring relief and reprieve from the physical and mental stress of daily life.
