It's about time, after all these years that I revisit this one. Probably known as one of the 'fan favorites' amongst a lot of the classic music and I understand why, it's an epic piece.

Hey everyone. Just a quick message. While I know a lot of you enjoy the recreations of O'Donnell and Campbell's legendary work for TTTE. I'd also really appreciate if you'd take a look at music I've written too. I'm looking to experiment and expand as a composer to test my range and ideas, the Thomas stuff is nostalgic and everything but the original works is what I really enjoy to work with. This track is probably one of the reasons why season 2 was my favourite Thomas season, the atmosphere of a busy scenic railway is captured greatly into this track. I’m glad we have people like you who are amazing at recreations as these pieces were never released on album.

I always felt like season 2 captured most what it was like to work on a railway. Everything had this kind of lived in, dirty feeling to it. And the music contributed to that as well, a good mix of epic, dark and moody pieces to set the atmosphere.

Not entirely sure why this has just hit my feed at 2240 but I went to school with Mike O'donnels daughter. Mike wrote much of this stuff and he was a close friend of Ringo Star for obvious reasons. Apparently her and her brother were able to dress up in the beatles clothes as children.

As long as I can remember, I have been humming and sometimes outright singing that tune. Note for note. Literally, note for note, and in my head as I was humming/singing it it sounded IDENTICAL to how it sounds in this video. I ALWAYS, for almost all the 25 years that I have been alive, just assumed it was a tune I somehow came up with when I was too young to even remember. And now, at quarter of a century old, I discover this tune I have sung and hummed throughout my entire life, which I always imagined I had come up with.... it was REAL?!?!?! WHAT!!!!!!!!! I must have heard it from Thomas & Friends when I was like 3 and just totally forgotten where I heard it from!!!!

Lots of people travelled to The Big station at the end of the line. Engines from The Other railway sometimes pull their trains. These engines stay tonight & go home next day. Gordon was talking one day to one of these.

Honestly this might be my favourite musical theme in the whole of the Railway Series. Not that Season 2 is my favourite, but this theme, especially when heard alone without context, really is the most relaxing yet at the same time energetic theme which most seems to represent the art of workmanship and world-building within the series, with something simple as a viaduct representing the theme. I only wish we could have heard more of it as it really only features in about four different episodes, one of which is played twice in the second series. And that's the special thing about it. We'd later get its harbour variation of the theme in Season 3 which was somewhat improved in many ways sounding less synthy and having a more sea-like atmosphere. But I felt it was just a bit too sped-up for my taste and that I think got more use in the third series. But it will always be the Season 2 original theme I will look up to as my favourite piece of music composed by Junior Campbell and Mike O'Donnell.
